Do you have a response to his comments about the utility (or non-utility) of trying to wound vs. kill?

I've already added the game to my wish list, and that video reinforced the decision to get it when I can.

Grab the Codex by the pussy Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
You can already wound the enemy to disable it. Hitting the legs lowers the agility (movement APs and evasion), hitting the hands lowers dexterity (so they consume more AP to use weapons and have lower melee cth), head shots will blind them (lower mrk), torso shots will lower their str (less melee dmg).

You can easily test this on a solo zombie. Count the tiles it walks when not harmed, then shoot up the legs and see how long it walks.

I guess it comes down to how difficult it is to connect on a head shot at range. If it's not much harder than any other specific body part, then why not go for it and remove the threat? I don't have a solution, and I can see how it would be a very difficult thing to balance. I've never fired a gun in combat, but I think it would be about as hard to hit a moving target in the leg as the head, which is why we're taught to aim for center mass. But that isn't as useful when the target is a zombie.

Do the AoE weapons tend to do more damage to the legs as opposed to other areas of the body? I could see those being useful for at least slowing down a mass of zombies while you deal with other threats/flanking enemies.

Is this wounding something that can happen from "normal" attacks, or does it always require aiming?

It's basic ballistics. If a target is small, it's harder to hit. Explosions that propagate from the ground tend to hurt the legs more, yes. Fire spreads from feet up, too.

It can very easily happen that you're trying to shoot the torso but the enemy has the hands sticking out in front so you'll hit the hand. Also shotguns have a wide cone so you can hurt multiple body parts.

My guess this will be 2-3 years of early access at least? As much as i want to try it because i like both zombie survival and turn-based shit and i also liked Dead State, i will have to wait before there is enough content or when the full game is out. Don't need another stuck in early access game on my hands.

Not going to pirate it and i wish the dev godspeed. Looking forward to play this... well, someday.

An amazing journey ends… and another starts!
An incredible journey of over eight years reaches its harbor today. What began as a project that, on paper, seemed impossible has now become reality: Urban Strife.

This game was brought to life by a dedicated team of three devs, alongside a roster of amazing friends who generously contributed their expertise. It’s still a rough gem, waiting to be cut and polished—that’s why we chose the Early Access path. We believe this is the best way to finish our journey: together with you, the players. Those players who – same as us three - wanted more and always got less from their games, because “it is what our focus groups say is trending”.

Making this moment even more special, we’re launching Urban Strife with the support of MicroProse—a name that has been synonymous with gaming excellence for generations.

In the past two weeks, we shared an Early Access preview build with over 100 content creators. Thanks to their efforts, we identified and fixed a dozen critical bugs, resolved hundreds of minor issues, and introduced vital balancing and quality-of-life updates. Their generosity in donating their time and expertise has been invaluable, and we are deeply grateful to them.

To those who’ve said, “I like the game, but I’d rather play it when it’s out of Early Access,” we hear you, too. We invite you to stay with us on this journey—share your ideas and critiques, and help shape Urban Strife into the game you want it to be when it officially launches as version 1.0.

So… welcome to Urban Strife. If you’re curious about what lies ahead, we’ve prepared a detailed Early Access roadmap for you. If you’re ready to dive in, check out the introductory playthrough running on a loop on our store page, or explore the quick tips we’ve provided under the “Quick Reference” section of our Steam page.

Good luck out there, and thank you for your incredible support!

Dead State was the first early access game I played, I played it so much that I never wanted to play the full release nor the reanimated version. I really hope it is only 2-3 years, but by how long this is in development already I doubt it, which is a shame, because I really like this game.

I am already beta testing Stalker 2 and PoE2, no time for this. While it looks interesting, I will wait as well until it is closer to done.

Graphics looks nice, nice camera control. Made a char that looks like a slav in a tracksuit, lady that rescues you looks hot, no goblinas so far

The stealth takedown as in instant kill is coming soon (with initiative update). Right now you can sneak up to 1 tile behind them. They'll turn towards you but you still get the attack.

Ok so first impressions after a few hours

- game runs smoothly, graphics are nice, old school, havent noticed any drops in fps
- camera control seems good to me, you can rotate it, lots of details all around
- char generation was nicely done, no current year politics bs
- shelter crafting and item crafting seems abundant (tho maybe make the crafting icons little bit smaller, imo they seem too big)
- dunno how much content is there, just finished the first quest chain and cleared out the local gang

The dialogues imo need more work, maybe find some professional writers, playing as a bald slav in a tracksuit and getting told by a old school southern dude in a white suit, hat and cane "my child" is a bit cringe.

Now i dont mind comedy in games, but one of the first teammates you get is a dumb police deputy called Billy Bo who ticks all the tropes of southern inbred stupidity (including ears that just scream otoplasty). I can just see him going ALL YA ALL etc

Could maybe use a PERCEPTION attribute instead of marksmanship, that could double for awareness (visiting run down locations is just begging for perception checks for loot, pathways and can also be used in dialogues). You could make marksmanship a mix of perception and dexterity, like stamina is right now.

Are there any traits at chargen planned?

Choosing a perk seems strange, levels 1-10 for example with 1 perk per lvl if you qualify seems more straightforward but hey its your game.

So far looks very promising, price is more than decent and i dont regret my purchase.

Good luck gents

One nitpick:
When looting bodies unit doing the looting goes to crouched stance and stays on it.
Is this necessary?
