Any gameplay videos? There is disciplines like Thaumaturgy in this game?

Probably going to be a while before videos come out, still very early in dev. There will be vampire abilities, both for social and combat. They're not yet fully fleshed out, but will include genre staples such as mind control, blood draining, etc.

Since the player starts out as a human familiar, vampirism is something to be earned. The game will have classes, and I'm thinking off adding the vampire class tree as a (very strong) mid/endgame subclass.

Thanks for the info anyway. Is there anything you can say about how you plan the gameplay to work or what superpowers are likely to be available?

For vampire stuff, see above. General gameplay loop will actually be somewhat similar to Battle Brothers, surprisingly. You're in a crime syndicate, you have a crew, you go around doing jobs and pulling off crime things to earn money and respect. There'll be a lot of story but it's mostly avoidable if you just want to freeroam in a dark, cyberpunk city.

Also I will probably have premade "story companions" and randomized, expendable companions.

Yup, dunno if I mentioned it, but I got a 3D artist onboard. Most of what we're using right now are just premade assets though.

Vampire Gangs of MoonFall is an old-school cRPG set amidst the vampire-dominated crime syndicates of a cyberpunk city. As a Familiar of one of the ancient vampire lineages, you have been tasked by your undead masters to expand their criminal empire.

If you play your cards right, that criminal empire may one day be yours; along with eternal youth and power beyond the imagining of mere humans.


Old-school cRPG

Vampires Gangs is inspired by legendary cRPGs, but also seeks to add new features to the formula.

Traditional Features:


  • Nuanced character creation
  • Turn-based combat
  • Classes
  • Skill checks
  • Choice and Consequence
  • Hand-created isometric maps
  • Sprawling urban overworld
  • Limited VO, lots of text

A few questions:
  • Is it going to be party-based? I know you spoke about BB but just to be sure. If so, any expected party size? And how many characters in battle?
  • Different classes of vampires or some characters could not be vampires?
  • What about the AP (Action Points) system? 1 or 2 actions system or monocled real AP pool system?
  • Hand-crafted map is nice, what about combat encounters? I can smell the procedurally gen. thing but how about crafting 20/30/50? encounters or at least starting combat positions with squishy/ranged enemies being restricted to some safe positions?
  • Quest design, how complex will it be? Fetch BB quests or Prelude to Darkness deep quest level with multiple solutions?

There'll be a lot of story but it's mostly avoidable if you just want to freeroam in a dark, cyberpunk city.
Will there be implants? Would having too many implants impact your ability to do magic/vampirism stuff and viceversa? Or can you freely become a mostly-cybernetic cyborg that also drinks blood for maximum metal?
Unless it's an odd case of a cyberpunk game with no cybernetics.

A lot of Vampire Gangs is going to be like Battle Brothel, but there will be changes.

- Yup, party-based. Don't know how big the companion pool will get or limits, but battle party size will be at least 5, maybe 6.
- Vampires will have different lineage/faction abilities. Players can choose to pursue vampirism or not. Too many augments/body mods will limit you from being a vampire.
- Am thinking of switching to AP system from previous combat style. Will have to experiment with.
- I don't do "real" proc gen. Story encounters will be hand crafted (although it's not something I'm great at). Freeroam battles will be chosen from a pool of location/mission relevant enemies x random battle map.
- Quests are something that is weaker in my games due to necessity (good quests require a lot of time). I had something like 40+ quests in BB (ugh, too much work). If I lower the amount to around 10 big ones, then I can increase their quality.

Yes to implants. They don't interfere with magic/vampire powers (some will enhance them), but vampires will look down on you. Going past a certain amount of body mods (Over Threshold) may disqualify the player from being promoted to vampire.

Will they be mostly augments that increase your skills and such or will we have outright limb / organ / eyes replacements that change how the PC looks like?

So in my previous games, augments either gave you a unique permanent buff or a combat skill, and it'll probably be the same here too. I'm also trying to cut down on the amount of trash items in my game and replace them with well thought out version. Other than that I haven't gotten too in detail with these yet.

As for PC customization, the engine really hamstrings me into how much visual customization I can allow. All I can say for now is there may be some visual customization, but we'll have to see.

Yup, each of the four planned vampire lineages are very different, the only similarity being that they descend from the original vampiric curse. They each run one of the larger crime syndicates in city, and vampires control the criminal underworld.

The player starts off as a newly promoted familiar in one of these crime syndicates/vampire lineages. If you progress up the hierarchy by doing faction missions, you might eventually get promoted or "made" by being offered vampirism. The ritual for this is different from lineage to lineage.

That's probably because they all use Poser.

Models are made in Daz3D, which is the same rendering software used by a lot of other sex games. It is somewhat infamous for having high uncanny valley aesthetics.

You're not wrong there. We're running them through some other software to remove the fuglyness, to where they're almost presentable. Not quite there yet, but I think we're making strides.

Do you have any of the porn spoilers? Are they fully animated?

So the porn in my previous game was... unorthodox. It was animated pixel art with text.

I think for this game, the meat will be 3d renders. It will probably be a mix of static images and animated scenes, although I wouldn't expect the production value of someone who actually has a lot of money to throw at gamedev.

There will also probably be anime CGs, if you're into that kind of thing.

Like with my last game, sex isn't the main draw.
