but not optimistic enough to reveal who's working on it
What's the reasoning behind this? No faith in the dev team? No faith in what they're making? Afraid they're going to get asked questions?
I can only speculate, but I'd say it's because they don't want to get embarrassed again. They were confident that Bloodlines 2 was going to be released when they announced it in 2019 and that went horribly. Unless Wester's fibbing, it sounds like they're meeting all their milestones so far, but they won't actually know for certain until they have a release date locked in.
lol, execs put a positive spin on things all the time. He probably hasn't even played a demo build.

Highly optimistic. Paradox's modus operandi is hiring the cheapest dev team they can find, even if it means a high risk of embarrasments. They must see it as a "risk all, gain all"- scenario, because of the slim possibility of a cheap dev making them the biggest cult hit of the decade... for cheap.

In the new Digital Foundry video a guy from Ars Technica says he's heard "rumblings" that almost everything about the game has been scrapped, except some of the visual assets.

If they scrap everything from this reeking turd, perhaps there is stille hope for the sequel.

 They'll just produce another turd.

Funnily enough, like 97% of them just use their real pronouns anyway. It's almost like listing them is only for a tiny fringe group of lunatics that don't matter even one bit.

Our workplace has just made pronouns optional in email signatures. You can tell the split as all the zoomer members of staff love shoving that stuff in, but none of the boomers bother.

I'm just waiting till they inevitably make it a requirement.

Mitsoda made such a complex narrative game not even Hardsuit could follow it through.
Is Mitsoda involved with new project?

Mitsoda was a raging cuckold during the promotion of this game and went on apology tours attacking his own previous work. Why is anyone still defending that tard?

How the fuck did Brian Mitsoda end up working on the video game based on the show made by the guys behind Avatar: The Last Airbender?

I mean, it's a show in the same way a game that you run on way too weak of a system so that it runs at sub-10 FPS is a video game. It works, but it's almost impossible to enjoy.

Looks like The Chinese Room is going to announce one of the two games they're working on later this month (probably the original IP, given that they've been working on it longer). From the newsletter:
An eventful month down here in our studios - we had milestone celebrations, we threw our first Develop party, we survived the heat wave, we even had a short electricity outage in the offices! We can promise some game-related news in a few weeks time. Our dear newsletter readers, you're the first ones to know that!

(on second thought this could not even be an announcement of a new game at all and instead a confirmation of the release date of the port of their mobile crap that was delayed earlier this year because of war nonsense. That'd be funny if true)

Edit: Yep, it was mobile game port release date.

Milestone celebrations means things are moving smoothly anyway. The newsletter also includes an interview with someone who is very likely the lead character artist of new 'lines. From the linkedin:

Lead Character Artist
THE CHINESE ROOM LTD

Jul 2021 - Present 1 year 2 months

Brighton, England, United Kingdom

**Working on a top-secret project **
-Responsible for leading and developing a growing character team at TCR, working closely with the other Art leads to create some of the best-looking and most expressive characters in games today.
-Provide detailed input at every stage of the character creation process, from concept all the way through to the final animation of the characters.
-Working closely with my team, I work hard to mentor and organize tasks for them, finding solutions to improve their workflows and quality.
-Developing a solid and efficient pipeline that can be used across multiple projects with room to expand through R+D and training.
Her art looks fine, though "best-looking and most expressive characters in games today" will have to be seen to be believed.

Oh, that's why.
Hold your horses. There is so much light it drawns out the facial features. It gives the eyes a nice look though.

If they could make VTMB2 cartoonish with good writing, story and gameplay, I would take it. Chineese room don't need to chase Naughty Dog for graphics
I would be fine with this kind of art if the game is good.

Hey, Roguey, what if you're wrong about The Chinese Room imaking VTMB2? Are you prepared for consequences ?

If multiple sources were incorrect, I will admit to being bamboozled by them and reading something I was already biased towards in TCR's hiring practices in addition to the allegation that the official World of Darkness discord automatically word filters "Chinese Room" but no other studio (a claim I haven't verified myself because I will never make a discord account).
