I just imagine some meeting at the Chinese Room and they\thum\xir\shem discussing how removing Malkavians from VtM: Bloodlines 2 game as a playable clan would be a GREAT idea that every player would love. And then they are applauding each other, but not for long because clapping soulds are triggering for half the studio.

I'm sure they have an overpaid safety officer who handed out hearing protection and gave everyone a safety brief on how to correctly 'air clap'. Safe space rooms available for those who needed it.

No budget to make a game, model more than one face, program rpg mechanics or include 3rd person though, probably. Priorities.

Wasn't the whole point of The Chinese Room to "finish" Bloodlines 2 with minimal cost? With that in mind, I doubt they have a budget.

Malkavian's very likely going to be a DLC clan.

This game is unlikely to sell well enough for paradox to fund DLC, let alone one about neurodivergent vampires going to therapy or whatever the [current year] enlightened take on Malkavian mental issues is supposed to be.
The DLC is already being funded, it has a separate budget.

Is this an educated guess or was this actually mentioned somewhere?
The fact that they mentioned there would be two post-release dlcs (an additional clan and an additional story with a unique clan) means they've been in pre-production. Contracts have been signed.

I suppose they could be cancelled, but not necessarily.

Considering all the other signs of someone at Paradox really believing in this project against all reason, I'm not even surprised they went that far as to sign contracts and announce it to the public. They don't need Malkavian madness in the game on launch when Paradox suits are as crazy as they are. Plenty of insanity at home.

You can remove the testing section for current year games.

I mean it’s a paradox game, I’d be surprised if there wasn’t DLC. Granted it’s not an in-house game for them but still.

Malkavian's very likely going to be a DLC clan.

Phyre already has a voice in its head, so the question is "are TCR stupid enough to reuse their gimmick?" I'm afraid that the answer is yes, but also cautiously optimistic that the standalone DLC clan will be Nosferatu or Gangrel.

The Malk DLC turns the game into a party-based RPG.

Yeah that's quite interesting. If there is an inner narrative voice it (a malk character) provides an 'unreliable narrator' option that could change a playthrough if they have even created a game with that level of depth/options.

Other than the shirt and ripped jeans outfit (which I guess fits if youre a neonate), they look fine. What made you think they're terrible?

Ignoring the lack of artistic merits (which I'd normally do for concept art, but this is clearly marketing material), they all look like wannabe Toreadors or Malkavs. There's nothing about those designs that signals rigid hierarchies, monolithic clan structure, science magic, or really any other trait associated with Tremere.

Didn't the Tremere get wiped out (outside of a few hanger-ons)?

Waking up and finding out that just about everyone that'd have your back is gone would be an interesting situation. Especially since Tremere are disliked even by their "allies".

And one I have no faith that this game will capitalize on.

DLC clans have to be different enough to justify being sold separately and be something people want to play, and as Tim Cain will tell you, almost one one wants to play as an ugly nosferatu.

This is exactly the kind of thought that proves who shouldn't be anywhere near gaming. Nosferatu is the embodiment of stealth gameplay. People who want to be stealthy will take it (and because hacking is cool). If you want pretty vampires, you take Toreadors. Unless you actually pick clans for their gameplay. Assuming your vampires have a distinct gameplay related to their clan origins in the first place.
