Well I opened it up and started a game as Prussia and then closed it after about 30 seconds. My impression of those 30 seconds:
- Music seems good.
- Camera angle is bad - it's too shallow. Probably meant to show off the fancy graphics, but I actually find it uncomfortable how shallow it is. It should be more top-down.
- UI is much worse than V2. Less clear, less dense, less intuitive.

DarkUnderlord, is it ok to post screenshots of gameplay from the leaked beta? Feels like a bit of a grey area legally so I'd rather check first.

Yeah, think of the incredible damage some Swedish cuckolds could wreak. I can already see the email:

From: Paradox Interactive
To: DarkUnderlord

Dear DarkUnderlord,

DELET THIS!!!

With kind regards,
Johan

Well, IIRC we're not allowed to link to torrents here, so I'm just not sure what the stance is on content that is also a copyright violation (gameplay footage from the leaks has been getting taken down on Youtube, which implies Paradox, which retains copyright over any footage or images from their games, does not consent to content of the leaks being posted). Not that I agree with it, but I could see it being a legal issue (even if a very silly one) and therefore something the site's administration would rather not be happening here at all, regardless of RPG Codex probably not being even remotely on Paradox's radar.

My cousin is a lawyer and he's told me that as long as the site isn't hosting it it won't get in trouble. The problem is if you embed it which means the site gives more direct access to legally gray material, it might not be hosted here, but it would appear here.

I'm going to show you how it is done, I've made an album and recorded a few videos of the leaked beta version and uploaded it here, offsite. If anyone wants a big sneak peek at the game they can just follow that link and it has nothing to do with the Codex.

In 1912, W. E. B. Du Bois, president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), publicly challenged NAWSA's reluctance to accept black women. The NAWSA responded in a cordial way, inviting him to speak at its next convention and publishing his speech as a pamphlet.[79] Nonetheless the NAWSA continued to minimize the role of black suffragists. It accepted some black women as members and some black societies as auxiliaries, but its general practice was to turn such requests politely away.[80] This was partly because attitudes of racial superiority were the norm among white Americans of that era, and partly because the NAWSA believed it had little hope of achieving a national amendment without at least some support from southern states that practiced racial segregation.[81]

Seems to be a new trend in Paradox. CK3's UI is also dogshit compared to CK2's.
This is a somewhat unpopular opinion.

Do you not like the new tooltips or is the UI shit in spite of them being great?

At least in V3 they're both shit. The base UI is poorly designed and unintuitive (in V2 for example you always knew your tech progress because there was a section in the topbar that showed it; no such thing in V3) but that's not to say the tooltips are a good feature as they currently stand. The "hover for a while to keep them pinned" feature is good but the delay before they appear initially is bad. If they fixed that delay they'd probably be ok (not "great") but the base UI's shit in any case.

Adaptive/recursive tooltips are widely considered a big boost in Paradox UI, though they borrowed the idea from At The Gates and didn't invent it themselves. What about them do you object to? Would you prefer static tooltips?

Oh boy, you should have asked me that back when CK3 released; I haven't touched that shit since, as it was clearly inferior to CK2. From what I remember, the new map (and especially interacting with the map) was downright hideous, the various menus went from stylized, clean looks to some modernized garbage, and things were shuffled around seemingly just for the sake of shuffling them about. I distinctly recall detesting the map the most by far, though. Wish I could be more specific, but as I said, it's been a long time since I touched the game. As for the tooltips, I think I had no issue with those.
