The problem isn't so much the rate of levelling and more the choices it offers.

I feel like I should be focusing on maybe two or three active abilities and dump the rest into passives, because you rarely have a chance or need to use all the actives.
Yeah, the talents are idiotic for sure. You have to spend 20 minutes searching for something decent.
Now you know how people not into D&D felt when leveling in their two Pathfinder games.
I bet you told them same like I will tell you.
L2P noob.

Just got to the galaxy map. Ah, I see I've been tricked into playing Pathfinder 3. Oh well, at least this time I have my great pal Argenta by my side instead of that absolute arsehole Linzi.
Argenta is most useless character in combat in earlier levels. She cannot hit shit with her bolter, she does bad damage when she does and she is also bad at tanking.

As for general combat, I had all tutorial shit on but it didn't say anywhere that some weapons cannot be used in melee range.
I gave Argenta Lasgun as secondary so she can hit sometimes but then some random mook comes into melee and she cannot attack as both bolter and lasgun do not work..
Bruh, Argenta is the MVP, just use burst instead of single shots. She can clean whole rooms in one turn or obliterate any bigger enemy, like the boss in the prologue. I nearly 100-0 him with 2 full bursts to the face.

Idk if you tried using bursts, but the percentages to hit are kinda fake there. Burst autohits (tho enemy can still dodge), just the spread of the bullets is random. If you aim at 4 goons, and they all show 25% chance to be hit, the chance is just for the bullet flying in each direction, and you're basically guaranteed to hit someone with every bullet, at least until one of them dies.
I tried using bursts, numbers are not fake, you are just playing on low difficulty. And bolter is terrible for Burst, it has high recoil and cannot hit anything.
I had 1v1 burst battle vs some commander dude with lasrifle, he hit 3/4 shots with worse ballistics skill, Sister of Missing hit 0/4 back..

is what you're supposed to be doing in turn based games.
Not really, you need situation logical skills that give you and advantage if you are smart enough....or have exp playing tbrpg. There is a difference between getting a +5 damage for attacking engaged enemy from the back or having +5 to hit when flanking. And a whole different thing is you get +1damage on your first attack in combat. Nearly all the talents are useless situational garbo.
It is clear you had seen it from the rest of the post lol.

Oh and most of that garbo doesn't work. Gave the syster some talent that gave her +5 damage for every companion next to her....she still did the same damage lol.
Yes, the fact that they don't work, is a problem as I said.

But in theory there is a lot of cool builds out there, some really fun synergies to find. Some talents look like useless garbo, but can actually work very well when paired with others.

If the talents actually worked, Clenched Teeth (+TGH damage reduction against first attack from every enemy this combat) which looks like "situational garbo" you mentioned, could work extremely well with Endure (+ temporary wounds and deflection) + Hardened scars (stacking +1 deflection after being hit during endure), and enable some really agressive tactics, where you run in a group of enemies with your warrior on first turn, murder who you can and draw the fire of the rest, and since first attack of every goon in combat deals much less dmg while stacking your deflection, first few hits are eaten by temporary wounds bonus then after few your deflection gets so high the rest of them does nothing. You basically waste a whole turn of attacks from the entire enemy group while preparing perfect positioning for your squad on the second to wipe them all.

Ofc it doesn't work at all because 2/3 of these talents are broken + there is no point in thinking so much anyway when I can just do 2-3 AOE nukes and clean 80% of these goons before they even have the chance to attack. But in theory a lot of these talents CAN be fun and used in interesting ways and have a lot of synergies, if they weren't broken and the balance was adjusted.

WoW you are a fucking retard. Have nothing in common with pathfinder, which was pretty obvious about levelling. The UI in here is in times worst than fucking pathfinder games. Levelling was easy in them since most of the feets made since, also there was plenty of passive feets that just gave you more armour or damage or atrack.

I'm playing unfair, literally read the tutorial, it even tells you how bursts work. Hitchance doesn't exist for burst, bullets can go in multiple directions and they will autohit enemies in their way. There is literally no chance to miss (only very small chance for the enemy to dodge) if you use your bursts correctly against big groups. Afaik ballistic skill does affect spread, making more shots fall closer to the center, and higher difficulty gives player higher chance to hit cover, while also raising enemy skills, so trying to have 1v1 burst battle with the enemy if youre both behind cover, will result in him hitting often, while you're hitting shit. You use burst point blank against bigger enemies, to guarantee all bullets hit them and do massive damage, or you use them against big groups (after flanking them or if they're in the open, not when they're in cover), where you're also guaranteed to hit multiple targets. Against single small dude they're awful, that's the tradeoff.

If the talents were anything like in the wrath of the kukholds,i wouldn't had a problem, since it allowed to just make a decent build and leave the authists to do their synergy porn. But now everything is about synergy shit and the worst part is that it doesn't make sense. Why would you get a skill that gives you +1 damage only on your first attack? Why would work only on the firist attack and not on the rest, does it makes your first bullet magical or something?

The burst hit chances are confusing me as well - 0% on several dudes who then get three bullets straight to the face (while the guy I wanted to hit, with the 60% chance, is unharmed). It does feel a bit random with Argenta, sometimes she absolutely smokes a whole room on her first turn and other times she wastes two turns in a row just misfiring into a wall.

Nah the witch just gets killed every combat because peasants just love to one hit her. If true that is pretty idiotic combat system since you end up with cripples by the time for the boss. It is the opposite of all the other rpgs. You will get locked in a situation where you won't be able to fight lol.

% of bursts simply shows a chance that bullet will go that direction. 0% will usually show if the dude is standing behind other dude, to indicate that while at the start of the burst it's 0% for the bullet to go straight to him, he can still be hit by overpenetration (bullets going through multiple targets) or if the first dude blocking him dies during burst.

Nah, we were both standing in open as I got sick of argenta being completely useless far behind cover so I decided to just go stand in open and flank whoever I wanted her to hit.
Still even if you attack and hit on occassion with bursts she has to kill 3 (or 2 for me as I took the talent) before she gets even that tiny bonus.
She has no damage bonuse, unrealiable AoE and no tanking skills. Still useless compared with everyone else.
Fucking charge is free attack with no penalty and she gets that terrible run and gun skill.

My main is sniper operator and indira always hits groups while also buffing and debuffing.
And I just got Navigator chick who seems crazy.

The game pretty much starts to fall apart after reaching Chapter 4. Main Quest appears to be completeable (so far) but pretty much all companion sidequests start to bug and cannot be completed. I just reached Chapter 5 and planetary encounters lead to crash to desktop/main menu, cutscenes lead to a black screen that can't be exited, there's also art missing as well as bits of text during dialogue, interaction prompts that don't do anything, plus my Colony Management has long since been rendered inoperable as I posted above. It's as if the devs tried to streamline as much as possible everything that was available during the beta, and then after that almost no bugs have been fixed whatsoever.

visiting ship removes trauma, have not seen other way to remove em at least yet

There's a particular Stim that removes 1 trauma.

Yeah I'm a bit of the way into Act 2 (just met the Eldar sniper or w/e she is) and you can absolutely feel the game creaking and starting to fall apart already. The glitch where I get infinite turns hasn't gone away, it happens randomly near the end of combat, and I think a couple companion conversations have occurred out of sequence. It's funny because the fuckups actually compound and pile up, like I've just accepted that every combat will at some point break and I'll become invincible. I'd be very surprised if it's possible to actually reach the end of the game in the current build.

I am the beginning or so i thing. I do find her useful with her chain lightning but she gets killed very fast and there is no way to remove the trauma.

About Chapter 1 last boss:

WTH am I suppose to do? The CSM doesnt need an army and a sniper, he alone can kill all my party. I´m lvl 13

Try to countersnipe him with Argenta + sniper rifle and use smoke grenades if you have found any. As for the boss, try to stack as much DoT on him as possible.

No one cares about Pigeon- tier int game journos.

You are fighting a genetically enchanced supersoldier with thousand years of combat experience and magical buffs, what did you expect,a bugbear or orc chief fight?

I have the ultra radical opinion that low level nobodies should't be fighting one CSM at act 1. If PC must fight him, he must be in a weakened state or try to flee from one.

LOS is completely broken and unpredictable when z-axis gets involved. Enemies shoot you straight through objects and ground.

I've officially reached a gamebreaking bug in Chapter 5. You visit a plot-critical location, a cutscene plays out, and after it ends the camera just zooms on your party and gets stuck there. Trying to skip the cutscene results in a black screen you can't interact with (though the game still runs in the background, sound effects and music and all). If it's a general bug and not just for me, then the game cannot be completed at this point.
