I understand them wanting as much doolars as possible, but yeah 200 NPCs is a lot in general, let alone having them named after people. I hope it fits in with the rest of the game... like I was worried about earlier, this hopefully won't be Wasteland: Inside Joke Edition.

I see they introduced a new $2000 tier too, unless that was old? I don't remember it though.

It's kind of funny that they basically started calling MCA a member of the team right after the press release went out. Either they're very confident they would reach 2.1 million or he was going to join them no matter what. I don't think he'd put his name in it if he wasn't 100% going to be working on it.

The $2000 tier is new, it's sort of a lesser version of the 2500 tier. And realistically, I don't think they're going to get another 100 $1k backers, but I suppose it could happen if lots of people get the itch in the last week.

Two people just took the 1k pledge. I think more 1k will boost greatly the cash flow.

He's really reaching for the stars now, isn't he?

I guess we aren't going to get a modkit and Brian was never really crazy about the idea.

The 2.5mil is a possibility, but 3mil is just a fantasy (Is this real life or just a Queen quoooote?). IF he has a ace up his sleeve (like a great vision document or some new news) then 3mil would be reachable.

$3mil is very unlikely, but not entirely impossible. It would require a very large final burst of fence-sitting backers to come in, reminiscent of Double Fine's final week where they pulled in around 750k. Probably another big announcement too.

As much of a fanboy I've been over this project, the way he's been constantly moving the goalposts is pretty annoying. I know it's all about milking every last dollar, but it has to be difficult to exactly budget a 1.5 year development cycle. Wouldn't it be better to keep the extra funds as a backup just in case? Then again, I'm not the guy who has been in the business for 30 years.

I'd rather have a concise and well-built game done right, not a multi-headed dick with areas designed by a wide range of people all over the spectrum like he's talking about now. The addition of MCA is enough... I'd prefer it left as is.

The talk of "blah blah adding more areas at certain levels" sounds like nonsense anyway. If the game hasn't even begun development or real designing yet it's not like having extra money is going to make a difference in this.

Well if the game was doable at 1 mil, there's only so much that can be added in a year and a half no matter how much money is thrown. I think 2.5 mil is the last proper goal that really is just polishing the game. The 3 mil is just to have something to inspire people. Mod kit will come out whether it's reached or not.

Stabby, I think that a lot of the funds will be for emergencies and contingencies. I think they have a basic budget worked out and will allocate the extra where needed, maybe to get temp staff to help speed things along here and there if needed. They have a deadline that isn't far off given the ambition of the game. They will need extra funding to make sure it makes it.

Don't be so sure. This is a sandbox game we're talking about.

Another point to note: based on the breakdown of $$ that Double Fine posted on their forums, we can expect for Wasteland 2 to have a budget that is roughly 75-80% of what is donated after fees and the costs of rewards/shipping are deducted. It's easy to understand why they are pushing for more.

Yeah, I would like it to reach at least 3 million dollars, but that's probably wishful thinking. Mod kit would greatly extend the life of the game...

It might happen regardless, but inXile is pretty wary about making promises, and it might take a while before it appears.

Over 40k backers now, and just short of $2 million if you include the paypal pledges.
