Nothing else was expected, as they could not afford to cause butthurt and disappointment right before launching another KS campaign, which I am looking forward to, because at the very least, we will get an entertaining pitch video.

Well that's good news, and a bro move even if obvious. Clap clap.

Nothing on if there'll be any content updates, though. I was kinda hoping for more fleshed out Arizona and overall more diverse random encounters (combat and noncombat).

Glad they finally got around to announcing it. I still don't understand this foolishness of refusing to say so for so long. Was charging existing users ever seriously on the table?

Too bad they didn't mention anything about writing. Brushing it up in some places would definitely help the game.

GOTY improvements are free... so what? dont tell me you are happy they arent charging money for a patch? Modern game development has rotten ur brains.
Yeah. I was expecting to get this for free. Anything else would be an outrage. Not exactly exciting news.

Since characters will not have perks and quirks and stats and skills are revamped, I don't see how old saves survive that.

They can always let you re-spec once for an old save.
That takes more coding. They would also need to change all your equipment retroactively. You might be stuck with quests or encounters will be too hard or too easy and so on.
I would force players to start over if I was them. If you didn't finish your game in one year, you might as well start over.

Eh, it was the second play-thru i've never finished, and I don't have any incentive to continue until the patch(goty)

It's not just the system, they're changing the content of maps, there's no way saves are going to be compatible.

Saves from the old version will not work in the Game of the Year Edition. There's way too many changes being made to the game for that to work, the character system is balanced differently and now has perks and quirks, and don't forget that we upgraded to Unity 5, and several changes are being made to loot distribution and encounter design. It's functionally much like a new game.

Has there been any changes to writing? Like being able to tell people of Highpool that Danforth was the chubby kid? Or any explanation of Vargas being so passive in the beginning of the game.

Would brofist if I had the privilege.
Installed older version and disabled GOG galaxy autoupdates, so problem solved on my part (to keep my options open if I want to play my current saves further.
But wouldn't it be a good idea to give people forewarning about loss off saves. Via FAQ or something.

Our plan is to make the WL2 GotY Edition a separate SKU so that both will continue to be available to players. I'd really only recommend continuing the old version for people that are well close to the end, otherwise it'll be worth restarting for the many improvements it brings.

Since you are here, could you just tell us if concers about the writing, paricularly Vargas not even trying to save both locations at the start despite having more than enough resources to do so had been adressed? I know that not only Codexers complained about it but also people on Steam forums and Inxile's board.
