If anyone is wondering, there IS an alternate solution to this quest (Bethesda is IMPROVING!). It's not as satisfying as personally killing everyone. The Chinese officers were lulzy though.

Yeah...but the alternate option is as retarded as can be. No science skill, no intelligence/perception checks, not even a computer minigame...but a fourth-wall breaking music puzzle straight outta Donkey Kong Country. Good one Bethesda!

The sad part is that that was probably the most creative part of the whole game.

Very true.

Yah, this is the one area that shows a modicum of imagination --- imagination ripped off from "The Matrix", a movie called "The Bad Seed", and a Twilight Zone episode called "It's a Good Life" --- the B&W filter is meant to invoke a 50's TV show. Too bad (again) the quest bits are all one-liner, obvious as flies on a turd, no-consequence, filler.

Tho, the Good Option is notoriously whinge inducing: Check out the TES forums for the amount of complaints about how hard it is to figure out the Failsafe Terminal. Yah know, from the amount of whinging about the difficulty, one would almost think that Bethesduh was justified in dumbing-down the rest of the game to 12-yr-old Down Syndrome kid levels...

If Driac actually finishes this abomination, this would look swell on him.

He will also need to finish all DLCs available at the moment of finishing the main game to get the reward.

I can guarantee that I will not be playing any of the DLC.

I'd love to see their reaction if you forced them to play an old adventure game like Myst or something like that.

Insert clever insult here
Well considering that there were few who tried original Fallout while waiting for F3 who never managed to get out of the rat caves OR who did not have a clue what to do after Vault 15 was empty...

haha!

And, seriously. Just trudging though the shit in F3 is a bad enough torture for anyone.

He doesn't need to do the DLC's. It might have lasting consequences on his already fractured mind....

I got to vault 112 before progressing the main story beyond megaton and was able to do that whole tranquility whatever it is. Man, I was confused, I kept figuring that Bethesda wouldn't allow you to go to a plot critical location before progressing further, or at least give special dialogue... but nope. My character seemed to know what was going on via dialogue, but I sure didn't.

Also, why the fuck do people praise this part of the game? I brought this up elsewhere and got blasted because this is suppose to be so fucking awesome I should start cumming instantly. DUR HUR TEH 50's ARE NOT SO NICE AFTER ALLLLL

A tag is of no use to a dead man.

Guess you're right - Zerotol played it for 100 hours and now he sees tactics in CS.

I’m feeling especially masochistic today, and as a result, I’m supplying you guys with the second update of the day.

Part 13 – The Conversation

At the end of the previous episode, we escaped the Matrix and freed Daddy Neeson.
And now, we’ve come to the section the entire game has been leading up to: meeting up with Daddy Neeson again!!

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
DADDY!!!

504.jpg

i3.jpg
Well, it’s not like the game actually gave us the choice not to save you.

505.jpg

FACT: I have no idea why the word ‘DOING’ needs to be in capital letters.

i3.jpg
We were rescuing you, you moron.

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
You lied to me. Why you lie to me?

506.jpg

LiamNeesonSmall.jpg
You must understand. As much as I love you, this project has been my responsibility since long before you were even born.

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
So what? Why couldn’t you just tell me about it before?

LiamNeesonSmall.jpg
I just wanted to keep you safe.

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
I think that’s a pretty lame excuse.

i3.jpg
Anyway, what made you abandon the Purity project and head for the Vault 19 years ago?

LiamNeesonSmall.jpg
In the year before you were born, things became difficult.

507.jpg

LiamNeesonSmall.jpg
Not only that, research on the project also practically come to a halt.

LiamNeesonSmall.jpg
And then, you were born.

508.jpg

LiamNeesonSmall.jpg
Doctor Li and her team left for Rivet City after that and Project Purity had been put on hold ever since.

509.jpg

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
It doesn’t seem to have worked very well.

i3.jpg
Well, it might’ve been a lot tougher to find you if not for the all-knowing quest compass...

LiamNeesonSmall.jpg
It seems that my plan was not as successful as I imagined it would be.

510.jpg

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
Dude, you left me stuck in the vault with a psycho Overseer who tried to kill me after you left!!

LiamNeesonSmall.jpg
I didn’t expect him to react like that.

511.jpg

i3.jpg
Dude, this is Fallout 3. Were you expecting him to react reasonably?

512.jpg

FACT: If my kid said that to me, I’d slap him in the face.

LiamNeesonSmall.jpg
I’m sorry you feel that way, son.

i3.jpg
Anyway, you came here looking for Dr. Braun’s research, right? Did you find anything before he enslaved you?

513.jpg

514.jpg

FACT: Madison is Dr. Li’s first name.

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
Do we really have to go back to Rivet City? I hated that place.

i3.jpg
Yes, we do.

i3.jpg
Anyway, didn’t you say that you wanted to beat up daddy when you found him?

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
Yeah. Let’s do it. :D

515.jpg

So, we shoot him a bunch of times with our assault rifle.

516.jpg

And just like the last time we tried this (in Part 2), he is immortal and simply goes ‘unconscious’.

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
:D

i3.jpg
So... you feel better now?

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
Yeah. :D

Anyway, we head over to the science lab in Rivet City:
517.jpg

As we enter the lab, we see Daddy Neeson and Dr. Li have a conversation with each other.

518.jpg

DoctorLiSmall.jpg
James, I’d like to believe you. But, this all just so... so sudden.

519.jpg

i3.jpg
I like how Daddy Neeson doesn’t even hesitate to trust the research or words of a deranged psycho who just tried to enslave him.

DoctorLiSmall.jpg
I don’t know. So many years have passed. Do you really think it’s still possible?

LiamNeesonSmall.jpg
Of course I do. I wouldn’t be asking you for help if I didn’t believe in this.

520.jpg

A GECK is the piece of technology that Dr. Braun was developing.

LiamNeesonSmall.jpg
I know, I was thinking about that. The lab at the old facility had some old pre-war computers. One of them might’ve had information about it!

521.jpg

522.jpg

DoctorLiSmall.jpg
Ok. Let’s head over there.

i3.jpg
I love this logic: ‘There’s no power and we can’t access any of the computers at the lab. Therefore, we must head over there ASAP!!’

MainCharacterSmall.jpg

After the two of them are done with their conversation, we talk to them:
523.jpg

i3.jpg
Well, you kinda told us where he went. Why the hell are you surprised that we found him?

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
Anyway, what do you think of daddy’s plan? Is it as inane as it sounds?

524.jpg

She doesn’t really have anything more to tell us.

So... let’s talk to daddy:
525.jpg

LiamNeesonSmall.jpg
It might be dangerous, but we have to try, don’t we?

LiamNeesonSmall.jpg
We need to get moving right away. Are you coming with us?

526.jpg

i3.jpg
Hold on a sec. Is the game actually giving us an option? Until this point, we’ve had no choice but to follow dad’s footsteps. Can we actually refuse to follow him this time? :hope:

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
Maybe Bethesda is actually improving!! :)

i3.jpg
Let’s tell him ‘no’ and see what happens. Perhaps there is actually some meaningful C&C in this game?

527.jpg

i3.jpg
:sigh:

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
That was disappointing. :(

Anyway, we head over to the old lab as the game forced us to do.
528.jpg

We find our friends are standing outside the building’s entrance.

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
Why you guys just standing outside? Why don’t you start your research or whatever?

529.jpg

LiamNeesonSmall.jpg
I hate to put you in harm’s way, but you seem to have learned how to handle yourself.

530.jpg

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
You’ve lied to me my entire lives and abandoned me recently. Why should I help you?

531.jpg

i3.jpg
Please tell me this isn’t just another ‘fake choice’. Please?

532.jpg

i3.jpg
:sigh:

MainCharacterSmall.jpg
Lame.

End of Part 13.

Anyway, I’m getting a little bored of the main quest.
So, next update, I’m gonna do the Oasis side quest.

Thanks for sparing me, and many others, some massive brain damage. That "Matrix" part is one of the most stupid things I saw/read in a long time. And it doesn't even look fun to play.

Since DriacKin plays the shitty games, I can play the good ones. This guy from one of them says :

And again, you've missed the best part.
You can break into the overseer's room in vault 112!
And you can see that guy who likes to dress up like a little girl in there.
He's just sitting there in his pod. And guess what you can do with him...
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

Also, since someone says that your mommy gave birth before the project moved to Rivet City, then where the fuck were you born anyway?

Jefferson Memorial. You can find the room with the little facegen computer and everything in the bowels of it.

Lame, Dria. I didn't like the idea of Tranquility Lane much, but the quest solution spread is really well-done. You just copped out and went with dialogue every time, but for instance: for the divorce, you can put some lady's underwear in the basement, and convince the wife her husband is a crossdresser. Same for lil' Timmy, by finding a leaflet for a kind of camp somewhere you can convince him his parents will send him there. There's a total of four ways to kill Mrs Henderson, one more creative than the next.

Nor did you show off the funny mask you get for killing people with, the Pint-Sized Slasher Mask

I'm not defending the concept of Tranquility Lane, the fact that you have to enter it in the first place is stupid, and a lot of the writing is tepid, but it's one of the more creative places in concept and quest design of any RPG in recent memory.

Also, since someone says that your mommy gave birth before the project moved to Rivet City, then where the fuck were you born anyway?

Uhh...Jefferson Memorial? Duh?

No wonder you can only look like a shithead then, your face must've been smashed in by all those mutants that have infested the place.

nothing more Oblivion than fake choices.
Why do them even bother to make them?
Are they really expect us to ingore that choices because they are not "lawful good"?
