The combat is way too hectic for me. You get all these cool stuff, but good luck using any of it in combat. And being hectic is not the only issue in combat, the camera seems to fight you all the way, especially with throwing items.

I think it's a bad decision to lock camera rotation as soon as you pull a gun. This means that every time an enemy is out of sight, you have to pull the gun away again to regain camera rotation control and readjust.

I've personally immediately changed the default option that zooms out (and changes the camera) if you pull a gun.

I've also now switched the "draw weapon" button from being a TOGGLE to a HOLD function. E.g. by default, you have to right mouse click to draw the gun, and have to click again for putting it away. The alternative has the character holding a weapon for as long as you hold the right button, but immediately putting it away as you release it. Feels more fluid to me as you just have to let go to "disengage" and regain cam control.

There's also an option that forces a constant bird eye view as a default.

edit: The HOLD option, disabled by default, plays a lot more fluid to me. It also feels the more natural option. I mean, whilst this can prove problematic, if they WOULDN'T take camera rotation control away when you draw a gun, you couldn't actually aim with the mouse.

edit: guess this is the thread where the codex finds out the wild west had a lot of minorities, wonder why
The Wild West had a lot of White, Chinese and Hispanic people, and yes, some Blacks, but certainly not so many that they outnumbered the White population North of 16637 to 1. The Wild West also didn't have a lot of interracial relationships, openly gay cowboys, letters strewn about that exist for the sole reason of informing you that racism is bad, people standing around just waiting for someone to come up to and speak with them so they could lament about how racism is bad, modern identity politics, black female Sheriffs and not every single woman you came across was the strong independent type, but this game sure seems to have a lot of all of that.

AFAIK the Wild West also didn't have anthropomorphic pigs, werewolves, or Satanic cannibals practicing literal black magic.

I mean, wtf Wolf-Eye? It's like you're not even trying for historical accuracy or something.
its not the wild west dumbass. it's part of a genre called Weird West (from which they took the name, dead giveaway) people trying to bitch about it not being accurate to American frontier history are a special kind of stupid, or maybe this is their first exposure to the genre. Also NO you are wrong and blind, in the very first couple areas there are lamenting helpless women, prostitutes, dumb ass bitches. and men of various stripes. Its ONLY the first chapter character is a retired female officer, and her first tutorial quest is to meet up with the female sherrif. People are crying faggot tears that one town, one small area happens to have a black female sheriff (and few men probably because they are dead) and then ragequit and went to post on the codex and whatever other incel faggotry they use in place of actually beating women. Stephen King's first Dark Tower book was Weird West. and not trying for historical accuracy. like you have to be trying hard to be that obtuse, otherwise I shouldnt be able to make female mages and clerics in DnD because that's not historically accurate.
Most characters have been white or seem to be, i wouldnt know since theyre all cell shaded and their audible dialogue sounds like angry sims, which might sound like a brown language to you dumbfucks but only if you dont know any but your own.

There are places to go beat women?

I HATE AND LOATHE any system that takes camera control away from me - all that swaying, lurching to and fro, zooming in and out. AAAAARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

If I see something in a certain camera view and want to attack it my mind is already geared up to attacking it there in that position on the screen, if the camera then lurches close for the sake of "drama", the continuity of the feel of the gameplay has been broken, and the experience has lots its immersion (contrary to the intention, which I presume zooms you in for some kind of superficial sense of immersion).

It's a stupid, stupid, STUPID thing.

GAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!

AAAARRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! FUCKING CONSOLES!!!!!!!

The camera is a "meta" thing, not part of the game world (I suppose unless the fiction of the game is that you have a camera drone or something) or some sort of fancy dance partner.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Kinda funny how similar everything in this is to Seven. Like it's so similar I'm thinking they maybe bought, or borrowed their game engine? It's not just the looks, it's the movement, camera, same kind of AI, etc.

Judging by Soylasta, this is just the French way now.

I looked up who wrote this and it was primarily written by two people, Lucas Loredo and Erin Lee Firestine.

Loredo said:
Writer & Narrative Designer
WolfEye Studios

Jan 2020 - Present 2 years 4 months

Austin

— All dialogue for the main storyline of Weird West (6,000+ lines)
— All narrative design documents for main storyline (100+ pages)
— Quest design, conversation design, and lore texts for main storyline
— Creation of a complex web of branching narratives based on player choice
— Voiceover, cutscene, and trailer writing and direction
— Scripting for all branching conversations
— Localization support

Firestine said:
Narrative Designer : WolfEye Studios (February 2020 – Present)

Development of narrative and worldbuilding content on Weird West.

Responsible for:

  • Barks and dialogue that reflect the world lore and player decision making
  • In-game texts such as newspapers, telegraphs, and books
  • Story dialogue iteration with level designers and other writers
  • Documentation management for lore and text convention

Weird West development started in late 2017 according to Chris Avellone's linkedin, so it's pretty interesting to see that over two years of that was scrapped for their version. Anyway, judging from their social media feeds, Loredo has no politics whatsoever from what I can see, but Firestine is a tranner with all the baggage that comes with it. Of course Raph is the guy who hired her and ultimately deserves the blame. :M

how buggy is it. wait for patches?

Nothing too bad. My horse has disappeared twice now but it returns if you make camp or travel to another location on the map. I think loitering triggers this bug.

I saw someone earlier in the thread say that the controls feel similar to Hotline Miami and I'll have to disagree. Maybe at a base level, but HM's are much smoother and you don't have to fight the camera all the time. I thought it was made with controllers in mind first , especially considering the UI, as a twin-stick shooter but I don't think it feels any better on it either.

I liked it. Much more than Weird West. Got a really cool world to explore. But after a while you get so OP nothing can challenge you.

I don't get it, where do they even find all those trannies? What is the chance of a writer for your game being a transgender? 1 out of 1000000000000? How the fuck does it work

Affirmative action. If there's a thousand applicants and only one is a tranny, you must hire the tranny, even if the tranny is worse than the competition.

Tech is infested with troons because tech is full of Terminally Online Failed Men. They troon out because they know they can use it as a cudgel to get laid, and try to get some real world power put of it.

People in industries that don't live online and aren't full of kids who spent high school in the computer club don't have nearly the same incidence rate.

Tl;dr = The Nerd Incel Tech Worker to Troon pipeline.

You explained why there's a higher than average amount in the community, but not why a sane mind would hire one.
Trannies are rarely in actual position of power ie management, CEO, investors etc. They're not exactly hiring each other.

What really happens is peer pressure to be the more progressive company than the neighboring one.

I've always wondered why troons are so overrepresented in the software world in general. A dev once said to me that his industry has a large overrepresentation of autists (the disease, not the meme), and as we all know there is a large overlap between autism (the disease) and troonhood.

So IMO it's a mixture of that and positive discrimination. Pretty gay.

Autism has been characterized (not the mainstream view, but a view I've seen mooted) as something like "extreme male brain." What might be happening is that these extreme (unbalanced) male brains are looking around and seeing that women (and ofc trannies proper) are more highly valued than men in society, so they just automatically disguise themselves as the high status entity, in order to get the social hierarchy stuff over and done with in one neat move. IOW, in a way, it's just a cold calculation.
