Just finished converting all the 35 Infocom games to the
Treaty of Babel. It took a few minutes, except for the 7 that use graphics or sound because the utilty to merge the blorb files (bmerge) doesn't work with x64 versions of Windows. I hoped that it would work under DOSBox but no, it is a 16-bit Windows executable, which can be quite problematic in this day and age. I had to resort to install VMWare and download a CD of WinXP, install Perl, run the script and transfer files back and forth. I could have left these out and save myself some trouble but 1) I'm a perfectionist and 2) the main reason to do this was fuse each IF file with its respective graphics and sounds into one single blorb archive, and those 7 benefited the most from it since now I only need to worry about moving one single file.
So there, all 35 Infocom interactive fictions in zblorb. Games now have a nice information cover when started, including bits of information if it is a special version like one of the five Solid Gold releases, and all additional files are contained in the same file.
