It's in the GOG version, I played it on my first playthrough. You can play monday thru friday, Apocalypse Weekend, or Week in Paradise (both).

Paradise Lost is on the main menu but doesn't seem to be included... oh yeah it's a separate purchase on GOG, currently $6 USD. Any good? Most of the reviews say it's crap, the GOG version at least... I'll pass unless it's like 80% off. I still have to play Postal 1 anyway.

I haven't actually played Paradise Lost, though I didn't hear very good things about it.

EDIT: But I do like how they took jabs at Double Fine and their shitty early access scams.

Replayed Half Life 2 and its episodes after a significant amount of time. I used the MMod and the HL Update to spice things up. These work together nicely in buffing the combat experience. The guns have been re-worked with new sounds and feedback. I also love the animations HL Update adds for when you're weapon is fully reloaded. It was nice to use this feature during the game's cutscenes where you may not have much to do, especially if it's not your first time. I was always a big fan of the hard hitting weapons from HL2, the magnum and shotty in particular. I spent most of my playtime with the shotty in this playthrough b/c it was just so much fun to use thanks to the mods. I think it must have buffed the enemy aggression as well b/c I saw them use grenades, grenade launchers, and the plasma rifle's alt fire much more often. I loved that I was consistently pressured to push the pace, or scramble for new cover. Overhauled gunplay aside, the adventure itself definitely lived up to my memory. The voiceacting, the facial animations, it all still works tremendously well in selling its characters. I loved the urban exploration bits, and fatigued on the vehicle sections. There were 2 difficulty spikes that were made more strenuous thanks to the mod: the Nova Prospekt wave defense, and the Shield Generator standoff. The former was still enjoyable, as the game gives you 3 turrets to defend yourself with. The sound was incredible, what with so many enemies coming at you. The second encounter was not as enjoyable b/c your mates die off quickly and the game seems to send an endless wave of enemies at you. I don't know how I got through it, but I just shot the energy ball and somehow made it out of there.

The episodic content was also great to revisit. I loved the low-level gameplay of E1 where you largely have to support Alyx to take out enemies in the darkness. Then there are some awesome combat encounters in the hospital leading up to the finale. Also, I felt that the Episodes did a much better job of metering your ammo. I often felt like I could use whichever toy I wanted in the base campaign, and that the episodes felt more measured in how they doled out ammo.

In sum, I had a wonderful time revisiting HL2 and would recommend anyone to try it with MMod + HL Update (hands). It definitely spiced up the combat and left me wanting more.

Some soundtrack highlights + 1 song I liked from Black Mesa:

FEAR with MMod. Nothing much to add that hasn't been said a thousand times, it's just a very tight shooter that puts newer ones to shame. The horror level is about right for me.
I tried using HD textures but that mod caused frequent crashes and eventually just refused to load the next level before crashing. Shame, it did a really good job otherwise.

I intended to play Clive Barkers Undying first, but ran into bizarre bugs. At least I think they're bugs, unless the user manual for the amulet states "may randomly spawn strong enemies when used" because casting ectoplasm could spawn big howlers and I'd suddenly find myself with 3-4 of those when I was trying to conserve my limited revolver ammo by using spells. This could very well be caused by the rebalance mod I grabbed. Not too fussed about dropping that, but setting the game up takes some work so that'll have to wait. The other bug happened when I restarted the game and dropped the difficulty to see if that would fix the issue. It started the game normally, except it behaved like I had loaded an old save. Regular cutscenes played normally, but none of the ghosts showed up, doors were open and enemies were dead. Rebooting the game fixed that issue. What a cursed start for my month of horror games...

Woah, had no idea there was an MMod for FEAR. Will check it out, thanks!

I'm roughly 2/3 through JA1, and I've come to the conclusion that playing this game with JA2 around is kind of pointless. In most cases, a sequel will lack something from its predecessor, but this is not the case here. JA1 is simply JA2 with fewer features. JA2 takes all the good parts of 1, expands and improves on them, then adds a shitton of other good things, and fixes the vast majority of annoyances and issues.

Mind you, it's still a cool game, and I'm gonna finish it anyway since I'm so far in. But I don't think I've ever seen an already great game get so outclassed by its sequel.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
The only thing would be that there are some cool mercenaries who didn't make the cut for 2. The mercs in 2 are much better developed, but there's at least a few morsels of fresh Jagged Alliance material in the first game even if you've played the sequel.
Fortunately Tex made it into Unfinished Business, which means that with 1.13 fuckery you can have him in Arulco as well. Howdy, pahtnah!

A more interesting comparison would be to hop from JA1 to Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games. There are some new mercs to recruit (Nails is a personal favorite) and a few new weapons, of which IIRC at least one opens up some new tactics.

So I'm playing it almost blind (I've read very little detailed discussion about Arcanum), and the setting, story, writing, quest stuff is good enough that I'm enjoying it quite a bit (as such it reminds me very much about Dark Sun). But it's a pity that it's such a decline compared to Fallout 1-2 in some other areas.

I haven't played Arcanum in 20 years, but if I had a starter-tip for anyone, it would be to start with a CHA 9+ character, so you coud recruit that Half-Ogre at the bar in the first village. He would literally turn the tide of any melee-fight in your favor.

HOWEVER, since you're already playing a Half-Ogre, I don't think any of that matters. Have fun! :salute:

Done. I tried a techie build, ran out of ammo almost instantly and got stuck, then restarted as a Half-Orc melee mage. Only 6 charisma so I put a couple points into that at creation and raised it to 9 on level 3. Had to do all the sidequests to hit level 5 before I could defeat the bridge thugs. Almost done with Tarant now I think. I'm enjoying this game more now that I realize it's mostly roleplaying/adventure and the key to combat is your build, party, and equipment. Tactics are almost nonexistent; it might as well be a blobber, but that's ok.

Currently going playing through this game which is like a mix of classic castlevania and bionic commando. The gameplay and music are both pretty lit as the kids say.

Also, grinding through Verdun, Gears 5 and R6: Siege for various unlockables and chievos.

Finished grim dawn dlc forgotten sands, and with that, the game fully.
Well,they finally learned some things.
-Consistent theme through the entire dlc is a good thing.
-Not focusing on main game enemies again
-Faction grinding is much easier thanks to enemy type placements compared to vanilla/ashes lottery of random shit sprinkled through the game.
-Having to choose the main faction is a good thing even though it doesn't really do much.
-Proper endgame shit instead of Crucible
-Loot drops were much better and more consistent.Managed to get some things for my build.
-Transmute is a nice option for dealing with clone sets.
-Lots of shrines to finish your build.
-Decent pace,it ends just as it needs to.No padding.

All in all, nothing truly great, but a solid expansion.

FEAR w/MMod
Not sure if I'm really feeling/noticing much of a difference from the vanilla experience. That said, the gunplay and game aesthetics still hold up. Just love the aresenal, save for the weak ass sounding smg

Recently played Icewind Dale again, and I use this thread as way to post this lovely song from soundtrack. The song makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside, remembering good ol' times :obviously:

I understand its a female character and that is normal because its a succubus ....I cant imagine a hybrid, transgender character would make sense :D

I am fine with what the game is about but I just like the whole flirting or fighting with Succubus so I will wait but keep us updated about the full version and is it worth it apart from the obvious character

I'm playing Ultima 3.

Still early in the game. I only have one mark, but I've figured out where the shrines are. I'm using a very conservative Thief, Fighter, Cleric and Wizard party.

Anyway, playing Ultima 2 and 3 back to back should be a semester at every one of those game development schools they have nowadays. It's fascinating to observe how Ultima 3 corrects some of Ultima 2's mistakes. Everybody talks about the fact U3 has a proper party and combat system. To me, the biggest game changer in Ultima 3 is being able to sell your loot.

Both U2 and U3 are insane money grinds. But in U2 you can't sell anything. Changing this alone would have vastly improved that game.

Nice one, this must be the only active forum where you will meet people who still play games like Ultima 3 ....I love that reality and commitment to older RPG

I never played any of the older RPG like M&M, Wizardry and Ultima except for 8 because of Apartheid and then studies and work pressures. But I have always wanted to and I starting on Ultima 5 but from with Lazarus Mod
Silly question which I still battle with is do you not mind the older graphics and does it not bother you?

I played and completed the first M&M and Wizardry games a couple years ago and in all honesty, I had more fun and was more immersed in the game than with most modern games with better graphics. To me, it's not so much what the graphics themselves look like, but rather what they invoke in a similar way to how a good book can activate your imagination.

You are right because many things I prefer because of my active imagination. I use to DM in AD&D and that is pure imagination and yes books are honestly always better and that is irrefutable for us readers

So I need to apply myself when its an older PC game, I tried Elder Scrolls 2 Daggerfall about 9 months ago and its a massive, huge game and I used a good Mod yet I stopped playing after 6 hours because of the graphics.....or maybe I told myself that because I had ELEX on Steam and I think I was not focused on what Daggerfall offers

So maybe obvious question, if I do start an older game how do I ensure I am using my imagination because I think I have a block as the oldest game I played is Ultima 8 and that was fine but I want to be able to play and enjoy the older games?
