The issue with a lot of these old D&D games is that their IP ownership is supposedly a quagmire.

In an interview the GoG people call this a giant pain in the ass, mentioning Forgotten Realms games specifically. "That was the case for the Forgotten Realms games. They were really difficult. They were journeys through pain, but Oleg managed to find all the people who were involved. He worked for years to make that happen."
