It's obviously not talking about 2 guys in a single game, but a hobby or group as a whole. Something you can't just easily leave and start over with like a game of poker. The images are representational.

E.g., for D&D it wouldn't be just two people's D&D game, but D&D in general. Sure, you could opt not to play with normies and just stick to your fellow old men. But if you want to play any up-to-date campaigns, well, sorry, but it's all in the latest edition now, and dumbed down for the normies you were seeking to avoid. (There are ways around it, like sticking to 2e or 3e, but they don't apply to every hobby, so it's a moot point.)

Then it's either abandoned as a hobby by the original players, or maybe some of the people who were originally passionate about it leave and start a new thing - let's call it something stupid like "Pathfinder" - but eventually it gets infiltrated by outsider faggots and brought down too.

For the Codex, it's even more obvious: not everyone here wants to make a whole new RPG website. And even if someone did, most of us would just stay here, since we've been here for 20 or so years now and don't feel like leaving for some new, unproven thing unless we have to (like in the last panel).
