Fucking glass weapons, how should they work?
Like other weapons probably. In most games that would mean unbreakable.
So how are you going to balance their lightness and sharpness? Oh, right, you'll make them almost as heavy as daedric and make some of them hammers and bows.

These light and elegant weapons of Elven manufacture feature extravagant use of rare metals and cutting edges made from rare crystalline materials. Duellists and assassins appreciate the delicate balance and sinister sharpness of glass weapons.
VS.
IN TES GLASS IS A METAL!!!1 :retarded:
Which is better and why?

There are games with interesting item repair / damage systems?

Ah, you mean "END OF LINE" ?

Anyone complaining/BAWWWing about Skyrim really just needs to be locked up in a little room.

Expressing disdain over what "features" the game is going to have or not have shows that you still care about and are holding onto the way TES games used to be. The company is dead, and the magic of those games died with it.

When you look at the clips of Skyrim that have been shown, most of the time the player (Toddles) is hiking. That's what the new Bethesda does well. Anything else added on can either be viewed as unnecessary and thus ignorable, or as a bonus to enhance your outdoors exploration experience.

So shut up.

Bethesda should reboot the Myst series with their skill for crafting a beautiful world perfect for exploration

I dunno man, armor penetration, scarcity, cost, damage... Depends upon the system, but there ought to be several ways really.

their games could be decent hiking sims if they didn't require mods that fix shitty/broken gameplay mechanics. Or crash every 15 minutes with no way to tell what caused it.

I just wanna play longer than half an hour for once /cry

They are sharp, so the damage is high. They should be scarce and costly, but that's no different from other high end materials and armour penetration separate from damage? With the direction bethesduh is taking?

I had mental sexytimes by imagining glass weapon class with very little degradation and high damage versus unarmored foes, high speed and lowered energy cost due to weight and balance, very high wear penalties and no penetration for hitting moderately armored foes or a wall or wooden post, molded into suitable forms only like dagger, broad arrowhead(with high chance of nonrecovery upon miss), short stabbing sword, longsword/scimitar at most and being the rarest and costliest with not much damage increase, combat effectiveness and damage rolls favoring high dex characters rather than high strength, with increased notoriety/depostition penalties if displayed in full view due to stigma associated with such
specialist material for specialist weapons with tradeoffs

but then I remember: Bethesda Softworks!

linear scale of use these materials as they pertain to your level and in the end everyone will use daedric or glass decline retardation fuck this shit you fuckers when the revolution comes I kill you first

Notice how this is far more complex than the durability they are taking out.

Precisely.

(Also, your solution would work well in conjunction with durability and repairs).

*mental smexy times*

The New Repair:

Sick of hammering away on dented armor? No worries. In Skyrim, weapons and armor will not degrade and become weaker over time. You'll still be able to create and improve weapons in a multitude of ways, you just won't have to worry about maintaining them.

Aren't NewBatshitsda games all about meso-LARPing with zero game-imposed mechanics/free-for-all? You pretend that you broke that glass dagger and don't use it until you get to the town then pretend you are getting it repaired, you drop it on floor near a merchant, then return for it a day later and drop some gold.

Isn't it good? I'm sure that that USEP wiki site will give you a wide variety of self-imposed rules and instructions on how to roleplay a massive number of characters - that were never possible in previous empty skulls games due to outdated and pointless stats and limitations.

And if a npc grabs it while it's on the floor, when you come back for it you can pretend cultists stole your weapon to use in a dark ritual, since you killed a thousand people with it. Now you must kill 15 cultists (anyone wearing a dark colored robe) until you find the one that took your weapon (you can then spawn it with the console)

radiant storyline fuck yeah

I honestly never had that experience with their last two TES games. You can say lots of bad things about them, but they ran stable for me.

Oblivion 4 : The Scrolls of Elders ran great for me as well. It never crash during the 4~5 hours of gametime I have recorded on that game.

I think the TES series is better off this way -- they're just trying to make it a fairly simplistic ARPG with exploration. Of late they failed horribly at the RPG parts so if they can just make it a 3D (read non isometric) version of Diablo it could be worth $20. It all depends on whether they made the dungeons interesting or if they're still just the copy/pasted crap we saw in Oblivion.
