Codex Year of the Donut
the most important aspect of crpgs is companions
Are you ok ?
Gygax did not make D&D to be played by 1 player. Companions are as integral to RPGs as combat.

Party members, not "companions" you fuckwit

Companions is a gay term for sad lonely man-boys who like romances (such as yourself)
Is there a reason you immediately think of gay men when you read 'companions'?

Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Two choices are really too few to me. For starters, I'm both combat and story fag. Yes, yes. But I'm also an explorefag and like to tweak stats, learn different systems to the bone - that's kinda requirement for a combatfag though. Additionaly, I'm a massive graphical whore, skipped quite a few seemenly good games because of their looks.

You forgot to add shipper/romance fag by the way.
Added, thanks. I went with two choices per head to find the greatest tendency. Many of us may enjoy several aspects of games but my thinking was we all have one main area of satisfaction, on type of system we crave. Maybe this "-fag" slang does not map well to reality, but so far most answers seem ok with it.

No simulationfaggotry?
How does it fit in CRPG ?

When I read companion I think about badly scripted NPC following my character and being usually useless PITA.
This thread is actually about CRPG, made to be played by 1 player, and not TTRPG so what Gygax thought may not be entirely relevant.

Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut I'm very into cock and ball torture
I feel like you're missing the omnifag, equally at home in PS:T, Wizardry, Arcanum or Dungeon Master. I'm an omnifag.

I particularly enjoy blobbers and I dislike lore and romance the most.

Oh, I don't know. How do lore and romances fit?
Can you provide example ? I honestly don't see how simulation fits with RPGs.
RPGs *are* adventure simulators, or at least the good ones. Good simulationfag RPGs are Realms of Arkania, Darklands, Ultima, Morrowind, NEO Scavenger, and probably Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I helped put crap in Monomyth
Completionfag (the term makes me giggle) because I like to go absolutely everywhere the game will let me, either through stats or exploration. And I like to play a game autistically until I know pretty much everything about it. Especially if I like it.

Storyfag, because nowadays this seems to be lacking horribly. I miss MCA. A lot.

I would've voted for combatfag too, because I like the early game struggle. But we could only pick 2. For some reason.

Ok, I see your point. For me, that fell under the larpfag category.

Combat and atmosphere are the two most important aspects for me. Tertiary is immersion (unsure if it's sim or larp in this poll) followed up by system, but I didn't want to spread my vote too broad so I didn't include those.

Choice & Consequence Fag or else why am I even playing? Give me a reason to do the things I'm doing. With C&C I hope to see things pan out in ways I don't expect. Wow me.
Romance Fag because it's the closest thing to the character investing in family or something neither selfish or selfless. All the best fantasy has it, Tolkien, Howard, Wagner etc. I'd lump party member quests in this category as well.

I'm a bit of everything else.

Combatfag - Rarely is combat worth a fuck in the RPGs I'm fond of, but positioning and forming a plan to merc a room full of enemies can be exciting occasionally if you limit yourself. More often you'd be better served looking to other genres that actually test player skill for your kicks though. There's nothing hard about memorizing spell descriptions and then clicking a button in a menu to murder dumb A.I. Doesn't satisfy the primal urge to dominate unless it's PVP imo.
Storyfag - Most of the time you know exactly how the story is going to go. Village gets burned, search for macguffins, climb the mountain of power, slay the dragon, save the princess, ride off into the sunset. Few examples buck the trend, but still, even slight variations are helpful to actually be invested in what you're doing. You could lump C&C, Romance, Lore in here. All of them are part of the story being told.
Explorefag - RPGs and Survival games are the best genres for this, however a good RPG could span the area of one city block and still be satisfying. Easy to go overboard with, where every 3 minutes you're running into an ancient ruin or point of interest.
Lorefag - Nice when a bit is known about background places, people and objects but this can easily go too far in one direction to the point where you're asking: "How did this information escape such a catastrophic collapse and remain preserved through the ages and how would I know about it just from looking at this item?"
GFXWhore - Graphics matter, but they don't matter that much.
Larpfag - Important for Elder Scrolls fans. Occasionally I'll do a bit when I get a reward for completing a quest but feel bad because it's all the NPC has left or is of sentimental value, I'll leave it in a drawer or something instead of taking it. This is way, way down the totem pole. Essentially, give the average game the ability to drop things/gold and perhaps eat and drink and you're covered.
Grindfag - Lol, gtfo of here.
Completionfag - Sometimes for quests and story related stuff because I need to see what's on offer to accurately judge a game. Never for anything else. (Loot, titles, etc.)
Statsperg - Again, I'd be in the wrong genre. None of it is necessary because 9 times /10 the combat is easy af. Play an MMO.
Simulasperg - Only for historical accuracy/ proper use of weapons/armor if applicable. (KCD)
Atmosfag - Like graphics, more important than graphics, but still not of ultimate importance. Usually the narrative can used a a crutch to prop this up if it's not up to par, or vice-versa.
