Turn-based blobbers have existed as a CRPG subgenre since Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord released in 1981.

Real-time blobbers have existed as a CRPG subgenre since Dungeon Master released in 1987.

Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss is not a blobber and released in 1992, establishing yet another CRPG subgenre.

Morrowind established the 3D Open World CRPG subgenre and is not an Action RPG, though it is possible for a game to be a hybrid of both, as is the case for Elden Ring.

Action RPG is another CRPG subgenre largely established by the success of Codex GotY 2011 2012 Dark Souls (and its predecessor Demon's Souls); the Codex also voted Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen GotY 2012 2013 2016 and Elden Ring GotY 2022.
