Just finished the game on commander but......final battle i had to switch to a lower difficulty cause it was too hard (and i wanted to see the end at that point).

Btw, recap:

-Never had problems with timers

-Never used medikits or healing or heal specialist, only used and maxed the hack one (too good vs robotic)

-Used mostly bluescreen bullets

-I skipped all story missions till late game, i had tier 3 armor and weapons and leveled up soldiers before going on with the campaign, to the point i had no more research to do a part that required from story

-I ignored avatar doombar till the very last square, i just did blacksite missions to gain time when needed.

-Psionic class is op late game, every mission i mind controlled an andromedon early an had it for all mission, also, dmg guaranteed always without aiming. Next playtrhough i will train 2 of them instead of one.

-I heard about armor shred bullets but never found (where?) so i had some problems with armorized people (i was forced to use shred cannon on war suit for gatekeepers

-Hope to see new expansions and mods to restart another playthrough

Little spoiler:

The end is open and seems a hint for a terror of the deep stuff

rangers are the bane of chryssalids. I really like class balance this time around, all of them have their strengths and weaknesses.

after a bunch of missions i can attest this is one step forward and two backward from long war, which adds insult to injury considered the guys from long war had been working with the devs on this.
and bugs. damn bugs. oh so many bugs and freezes and crashes and need to reboot or the game wouldn't start again at all.
maybe in a year or two, with a couple more expansions and a new long war mod i could see me drooling on it, but right now it's barely playable.

First of all congrats, its a good accomplishment in my books.
Other than that, can you tell approximately how much time it took you to do it?

The Grenadier can get a perk that shreds armor, scaling with weapon tier.
So ballistic shreds 1, mag shreds 2 and plasma shreds 3

Keep in mind that all explosives shred armor as well, and acid grenades shred something like 2-3 armor as well as inflicting a DoT effect.

Yep, i used mostly grenades for armor, but i heard about a bullet type that shred a lot, just was curious about it.

Steam says 42 hours. Btw i saved\loaded a lot during the game, because it was quite challenging.

A major improvement from Eu is that the difficult curve is balanced around all game

Also, with both v-sync and AA disabled while rest maxed, i never had performance issues, and i never noticed bugs. I guess i'm lucky

Oh a bullet type? Apparently there are armor piercing rounds that flat out ignore the targets armor. Not sure if it shreds though; haven't been granted to me yet.

can you tell approximately how much time it took you to do it?

38 hours on commander, researched everything and full linked spy network. I had lots of fun with grenadaiers and psi ops.
Now I'll just wait for some patches and mods. A terror mod where we play as EXALT and disturb XCOM oparations would be perfect!

An advent counter resistance mod would be neat.

Man, I don't care what all you expert are saying, but this game is borderline impossible (for me at least). If you miss those 40-50% shots you can as well just turn off the game, because the aliens sure don't. And what the hell is up with those tanky flying things!? Jeebus. What are the tactics for those? When I face them one or two men will always die. No exception.

Anyway I surrender. Down to veteran it goes, still going for ironman though.

Edit:

I guess I mostly just feels the game is "unfair" than difficult. It just throws such ridicules things at you constantly with no down time in between. Don't mistake my whining for hating the game though. I really like it. I just don't want to die by rage heart attack :)

I'd say the only really bullshit enemy I've fought so far are the codexs. Not because of the cloning, that's manageable enough, just that when they're around, all you can really do in the Alien activity phase is hope to god one of them doesn't teleport directly behind one of your soldiers and sodomize them with flanking critical damage.

Other than that and the performance, I don't really have much of an issue with the game.

Andromedons are worse.
It takes the whole squad to kill one, and then it turns into a unit that can move in its next turn, leaves behind acid and deals 8 damage in melee.

Fine if you can get one by itself. Not so fine when it has friends.

They are deliberately coded to do that though as long they have visual sight of a position that allow them to do just that.

I find it funny that people bitching about timer going off during concealment when your dropship can be seen clearly by ADVENT and that's when the timer starts.

The timer only begins once your dropship is in the sky in your area.

Before the entire sky is filled with alien ships planning to gun it down.

If you are terrible at the game, just play it at Rookie Bronzeman.

Sharpshooters are OP again <3 I don't know about gunslingers, but snipers with the Kill Zone ability... just watch :D

I got lucky catching them near those gas tanks. And unsurprisingly, my best sniper has the biggest kill count.

Oh, and here's a mod for those who complain about timers during concealment http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=618077830 Haven't tesded it myself tho, the timers are long enough IMO.

Are you sure about that? The aliens on the map patrol around like everything is normal. If they could see the dropship they'd be actively hunting for the hidden XCOM operatives they know are the in the area, or at least take defensive positions.

They are hunting for you? Which is why they sent out those escalating stronger patrols in the first place?
Also if you don't wipe them one by one and try to conceal your ass to the objective, don't be surprised when you trigger all 14 of them to appear at once since they are shadowing you. You aren't exactly subtle.

You can use Haywire Protocol to take the suit over though (it's a fairly easy hack in my experience)... it's pretty good for getting an extra meatshield to distract everything else in the pod.

Is there like a final boss in xcom 2 or just waves of enemies?

Commander difficulty is pretty easy so far with liberal use of grenades for everything.

Going with two grenadiers payoff really well early game.

I'm thinking to start over and make a squad with 3 psi soldiers at last. 3 insanity would be overpowered and fun till mass mechs.
