Of all the the games I played since I started playing games, Duke 3D struck me as the coolest of the cool. I might not feel that way now but I certainly did then. Aww, man! Those strippers shaking their stuff at you in the strip clubs! Duke shaking his dollars back! The digitized porn playing in the adult book/video store booths (later removed due to protests)! The Octobrains' pisonic attack! Duke's one liners! It was the coolest thing I ever saw in videogames. And all this just in the first free shareware episode!

Coolest game ever is the original Wipeout, from 1995. The game itself isn't that great but the soundtrack combined with the motion-sickness-inducing speeds you reach is cool as fuck.
Vampire: Bloodlines was cool enough I overcame my aversion to silly goth chic to play it. A rare case of something trying to be cool and succeeding.
