anvi No, Think Baldur's Gate/DA: O/Div OS/Exp: Vik formula but on Gothic style world map. With a bunch of thematic gameplay thrown in for good measure.

You explore ~2km handcrafted 3d map with companions, doing C&C quests, fighting, doing exploration stuff like hunting, placing snares, and collecting resources.
The overall theme and MQ is to gather allies and rebuild an old ruined fort for a final showdown siege at the end. Oh and if you alienate all your allies, they'll hang you from your own tower.

The Way of Wrath RPG - Kickstarter Update #5 - Something Epic

Hello Warchiefs!

We've been crazy busy working on a game and also one surprise you'll find later down this page.

We want to thank everyone who played Bronze Build of our Backer Early access. Your feedback and bug reports helped us a lot!

After ironing out the most pressing bugs and issues, we took a step back to take in all your feedback and started earnestly to work on the next big iteration of the game.

Part of our development is now focused on improving the player experience and clarity of existing features and the addition of the new quest and world interactions for Day 1 of the prologue.

The other big development focus is on the cool new features unlocked thanks to you! The Real-Time with Pause combat and the Pets!

In the next few weeks, we'll be releasing new updates for the backer early access, with new quests and new gameplay features.

Our plan is to iron out all the core gameplay and game design on a prologue chapter and then move the Main Campaign of the game.

We're excited to share more details in the coming updates. (And streaming of the Pet reward pet modeling <3)

And now it's time for the surprise mentioned at the start of this update!

The production of the rewards has begun and today we're sharing the hand-painted 3D figurine of the Yarbogha Shaman.

986055cedd8ce4d38b988ed7dc2f33ea_original.jpg

The marvel of modern technology, the 3D printer, is working non-stop to unleash the terrible wrath of the Yarbogha Army upon the world.

The freshly printed figurine is cleaned in pure alcohol and immediately transported to a special device. Where the figurine is cured with UV light for strength and texture.

Once Yarbogha absorbs the unholy power of the UV lights, it's polished and covered by a special layer of primer to prepare it for coloring.

Now begins the most exciting part. First, the figurine is painted with base layers of colors.

Then begins the long and elaborate process. Where our art director Dato, hand paints the staggering number of details to bring our fearsome shaman to life in a blaze of colors!

And lo and Behold!

YARBOGHA - EMISSARY OF DEATH

And it looks so much cooler in real life!

It's a real dream come true for both of us to see the physical object of character from our game before our eyes! It's mind-boggling!

We can't wait to get the Army of Yarbogha's into your hands and we hope you'll enjoy adding a piece of our game to your collections!

Cheers and see you soon with new updates,

The Team

The Way of Wrath RPG - Kickstarter Update #6 - Big News & New Trailer!

Hello Warchiefs!

We have some exciting news for you!
We've teamed up with the Hooded Horse, this amazing team will be publishing and marketing The Way of Wrath RPG. We're very excited about this partnership as the Hooded Horse has a very unique and developer-friendly approach, they are hardcore RPG & Strategy gamers at heart and we instantly clicked with the team. Hooded Horse will be marketing our game and publishing the game on different stores and platforms. While we'll focus even more on the game development.

To celebrate this news we have a cool new trailer put together by Hooded Horse Team to share with you

You can watch the trailer and leave comments on the trailer on IGN Youtube Page

You can check out the Steam Page of games published by Hooded Horse. Old World a new game from lead Civilization IV developer might be particularly interesting to you if you love ancient earth history.

We have won in a local start-up funding event!
We participated in a start-up competition and we were among the finalists! Our team will receive additional funding to improve the game which will result in some cool upgrades to game animations and add additional depth to exploration and combat.

What this all means for the game.
Some really exciting stuff! The game will become much better with the new resources we have. We'll be getting an animation motion capture system, a special suit that can record real-life movement and translate it into digital animation we can use in the game. The animations, especially the shaman rituals will be getting a huge upgrade, we'll also be able to include more cinematic scenes. There will also be a lot more NPC animations and activities, so the world will be brought to life.

With more development time freed now that we have a publishing partner, we'll be improving combat and exploration depth with extended navigation options and more of the world interactivity. We're very happy to have a chance to realize our game in more detail.

To make use of all these new possibilities of improving the game, we'll need to expand the development time and this will affect the release date. We cannot say the exact new release date right now, we'll need some time with the new tools and gameplay prototypes to lock down the specifics. But we should have more information and details in the next update.

But as always we'll be sharing the latest game updates with you and you'll be able to play the game early through the exclusive backer beta.

The gamepad & AWSD support is nearly finished, and we've started on the pet mechanics and modeling. We'll have cool renders to share next month of the awesome backer pets, (It's mindbogglingly awesome for us to bring them into the game ) and if your pledge level includes pet design, you'll be getting a special private early preview of the digital versions of your four-legged friends.

Hellwalker Do you still plan to release the game on Early Access or has that been called off now that you have a publisher?
Hey! Likely there won't be EA, instead, we'll have a series of beta tests next year (After we are finished with major gameplay additions like pets, hunting & real-time combat) and demos during steam events.

Looks great so far.

Always wanted to play a strategy or RPG in this era and there's so few games in this niche genre.

Very good! I hope it doesn't end up being unfinished mess after years of development though. Still very excited about the game, it's been at the top of my steam wishlist for some time.

Thank you, happy to hear it!
To help make systems cohesive we are designing the prologue chapter to be a sort of 3-day mini version of the main campaign. This will help us concept-proof and polish game systems, to make sure everything works together as it should and the main campaign can be built with insight formed out of prologue testing. The combat survival arena mode is similarly designed to test many builds and combat scenarios.
So far the selection of the main theme has been really fortunate for game systems. A smaller handcrafted map and being cut off from the outside world, the fort as Homebase, open-ended goal of preparing for a final siege, the early civilization setting. Most of the gameplay feels like things you would naturally want to do if you were in this situation. Even crafting which is usually busywork in games kind of gains new meaning. Because there are no shops or contact with the outside world, Looting enemies & crafting is the only way to get new gear and any extra staff you end up with goes to equip your ally army. Anyway going back to work :D. I'm really excited to show off more of the systems early next year.

Game Dev Progress and New Armors
Hey Everyone!
In this update, we wanted to share our progress and show off some new armors you can wear in the game.

6dd860b96e78687546135bc77dcc967f0bc4d4b3.jpg

Development is going great. We're wrapping up core development on most new gameplay systems and now working on polishing the player experience, replacing prototype stuff with final UI and art.

A New Real-Time combat option has been implemented, and Turn-Based combat greatly improved. You'll even be able to switch between them mid-combat and also save the game during combat.

We're implementing full gamepad support and most common movement styles with mouse and keyboard. (Point and click, Mouse hold, AWSD)

Next, we'll be polishing the player experience with new features and working on finishing a new prologue chapter that will be like a mini demo version of the game. It will server as both tutorial and the story will offer deeper insight into the last days of the 10-year war that precedes the main campaign story. You'll also have unique play experience and story starting point depending on which origin you pick. We'll share with more about opportunities to play Prologue Beta in future updates.

New Armors
In The Way of Wrath, you'll find different armors that fit different playstyles and roleplay roles. Armors and weapons are also made from a variety of materials and this changes their stats and the difficulty of crafting.

Hunter's armor is one of the lightest, giving great bonuses when stalking your prey through the woods or sneaking around enemy camps.

f73e39de68d27156713ead283c9034ca33f72582.jpg

You can upgrade most armors by adding additional layers of protection to get an enhanced version of the armor. And of course, this comes with the visual upgrade!

1ea024499cf24fa86e7738f21b25ac0f7b69232b.jpg

Because you are locked from the outside world, you will be scavenging or looting all the resources you need. And most of the time you'll be crafting your own armors. Everything you can hunt or harvest will be very useful, as, besides yourself and your party, you have a whole fort of allies to supply with equipment.

Players who like to balance speed and protection will like berserker's armor. Which comes with unique bonuses to keep you in the battle flow.

d874c82f438aceb2ef241a484bc3238902e926af.jpg

And of course, it comes with an enhanced version.

5b27c350c595cc61768158999c824d3f53712874.jpg

Armors come in two parts in The Way of Wrath. Base armor and helmets. Helmets have a unique role and they can affect how charismatic or how intimidating you appear to other characters. Combined with the reputation you gain from your action, these stats can open many new ways to solve conflicts in the story and increase the power of some of your abilities.

Last but not least, for the players who want to stand toe to toe with any foe we have something special!

799ff29eb01715f05094bfb0ed21c07055635682.jpg

And yes, even this armor has a beefier, enhanced version you can craft if you are brave enough to hunt for the materials you need.

We'll share Shaman armors and higher-tier armors in future updates.

As always if you have questions or feedback you can reach us through comments here, on our website[www.thewayofwrath.com], or our Discord Channel[discord.gg].

Cheers,
The Way of Wrath Team
