When Knights of the Chalice 2 was released to backers following the successful conclusion of its crowdfunding campaign back in 2020, it was assumed that the game would soon become available to everyone. However, it quickly became clear that it was in no shape for launch and that the backer build was effectively an Early Access release, as documented by Darth Roxor in our preview. Pierre continued to update the game throughout 2021 in his characteristic fashion, promising that it would be appearing on Steam any day now. It took a while, but the Steam page for KOTC 2 finally showed up yesterday with a release date of March 25th, along with a new six minute trailer showcasing the game's swanky new isometric visual style. Check it out:

Looking pretty good. Let's hope Pierre manages to stick to that date. If it's on Steam it has to be true, right?

The game looks much better now, but communication from the developer regarding the game sucks, at least he answers emails!

Anyone who derides the tokens wasn’t there to experience the soul-sucking difficulty of the original module. The tokens had a certain charm to them. In the first few (or maybe dozen lol) releases, you had to battle abundant bugs as well as sadistically difficult battles.

Glad to see it’s coming to Steam finally! I’m excited for the polished experience.

Game looks very low budget.
Gameplay from the video provided it's very RPG decision heavy, that are based on your stats and companions, and that is interesting, will keep an eye on this one.
It may yet turn out to be a nice RPG.

He put up 125 screenshots on his steam page, lol..don't think I have ever seen that many...

also what does this mean? And how does it work? Anybody know? It is in the Steam game description....

"The best modules may also generate an income stream for you thanks to the 5-5-5 User Module Offer."

Sounds like he might be thinking of selling user-created modules as DLC with a profit-sharing agreement?

Yes, he's already commented previously he has a profit sharing agreement in mind for people who want to sell custom modules.

This can be found on his website:
"The 5-5-5 User Module offer: construct a high-quality module and we will split the net sales 50/50 for five years (subject to agreement)."

sounds like a rip off. What sane person would agree to that?

It's either that or release it for free. There are very few engines with module making/custom campaigns that allow commercialisation of user created content.

Some NWN module makers got lucky and struck deals in the past, but that is very much the exception.

At the end of the day it's up to the people writing the modules. They decide whether it's more profitable to create a game from scratch or save time using Pierre's rules and scripting system in exchange for a profit split.

All your gibberish and not one bit of that bullshit you spewed proved what I stated was wrong.

He has power so he can charge what he wants. It is still a rip off.

A corner store in a small town can charge double what is charged in a city. They can do that, it is legal, and the buyer has no choice. Still a rip off.

Write your own OGL 3e engine in Unity/Unreal Engine/Monogame/C then. Have fun spending thousands of hours on that before you get to write any actual content for your game.
