So, it took this article for me to realize I haven't played any of the mentioned 2012 games (except the AoD demo). Hmm...
"Publication will be delayed to 2015 because the sudden influx of cash made a much more ambitious project possible, which had to be thoroughly vetted during an extended stay on Hawaii. Oh, and we need more cash."Will "2013: The Year in Review" be a Kickstarter project?
inXile are lucky in that Brian Fargo is probably the only guy in the RPG industry who actually knows how to run a fucking business.

Is this a joke? Fargo turned a behemoth of a company, with one of the largest shareholding and value per share in the 90's into a failed company. Had it not for him, Black Isle may still have been going strong and we would be eagerly awaiting IceWindDale 5 today (non kickstarted to boot!)

Anyhow can't wait for the 2013 review.
And can anyone tell me what was wrong with the Dark Souls PC port? I intend to play it sometime in the upcoming months, as I have FINALLY bought a powerful laptop (Asus Gaming rig!) so I can now play tons of AAA+ games, all indies, and even emulated PS2 rpgs I missed (like Grandia 3)
Another shitty year...
Although in general anything I write I usually do so from a point of view where I assume the audience is completely ignorant. Especially if it's a "review" of something.

So, in a biting twist of irony, your reviews include level-scaling...

I agree, the Codex experience has become too heavy handed. What with these entry-level articles in the front page plus unlocking the dungeons of pain and dementia only after years. The only moment when the Codex is a Fullscale RPG® is in between, but even that is in peril should Prosperland become instanced.Although in general anything I write I usually do so from a point of view where I assume the audience is completely ignorant. Yeah, this "evil publishers" shit is really annoyingDay-one DLC was something Bioware was wanting to do before they were bought by EA, it wasn't forced on them.
The port was mediocre, but was far from a fuck up. If you want fucked up, maybe Realms of Arkania HD is the way to go. And people who bitch about the controls are pussies who don't know what a truly mediocre control scheme is.It's just they kind of fucked up the PC port of Dark Souls.
Yes, I mean not only ppl frequenting the Codex.
Yes. Otherwise the Codex turns into nothing more than a self-reflective circle-jerk full of in-jokes and memes.Yes, I mean not only ppl frequenting the Codex.
But do you think it should?
He's the one who founded that behemoth, creating Interplay in Ye Good Old Days™ as a small team of developers. He then turned it into a publishing behemoth - including funding Blizzard before they were even Blizzard (and before they went to shit) and Parallax. He created Black Isle Studios. It only went to shit after he IPO'd, failed to make enough money and was booted out by Herve who'd bought a controlling interest. Is this a joke?
