Not sure how I missed this thread. I was looking over at Double Sided Games and noticed some freebies. I'll probably pick up Hired Swords 2 (you fet HS1 with it) and Shadows of Sergoth for Amiga but I am tempted to get the speccy as well. Black Dawn is sold out and digital is moved over to itch.io and you can select to dl for free. It mentions Black Dawn series so I'll have to research that.

I was reminded of shadows due to random vid popping up and it reminded me the game could be bought where I purchased Realms of Quest V.

And because I'm curious, I was glad there are a few reviews. While NOT questronish, it is controller based by appearance. It looks simple enough.

A Pig Quest - Eagerly awaited C64 game by Antonio Savona and team gets new footage

Although I tend not to write close to weekends this one was too good not to pass on by, as trawling Twitter, we've just been told that the eagerly awaited C64 game of 'A Pig Quest' by Antonio Savona, Mauricet, Aldo Chiummo and Gaetano Chiummo has not only just got a brand new teaser, but this new video shows one of the levels with a visit to the Temple of Hranazir and the Ancient City of Hranazir! To coincide with this news, I've embedded the Twitter post which can be viewed below.

Although the game isn't finished just yet, just the End sequence is missing and plenty of playtesting to be done, From what we do know about the game from all the previous announcements. A Pig Quest looks to be an incredible action platformer with multiple levels, gorgeous C64 details, a brilliant soundtrack, collectable items, and dangerous foes to battle against such as bats. So yes certainly a game worth keeping an eye on and even more so that the game is nearly finished and will soon be in our hands in the near future!

Ambermoon Advanced - A BIG unofficial extension and remake to a great Amiga RPG is coming!

We've featured Thalion Software's 'Ambermoon' many times now on Indie Retro News from the updated Amiga version, to the open source remake which can be downloaded to your home PC. Both versions give you hours worth of enjoyment of an incredible 90's RPG that not only featured 3D graphics that were considered revolutionary for the Amiga, but it also had high-quality graphics, a large number of enemies and cities and more. Well today's news is yet again pretty special for those of you who loved played this game, as Pyrdacor has teased a brand new trailer for the upcoming Ambermoon Advanced; A BIG extension to that classic game that is Ambermoon.

The music in this video is from the great Matthias Steinwachs who also create the beautiful original soundtrack for Ambermoon
While you can still download the original Ambermoon for the Amiga with better performance in 3D areas, lots of bug fixes, text improvements and much much more that's linked below. This upcoming Advanced version which will be made available for the Amiga and PC, features not just a new companion, but new doors to open, new monsters, new items, amazing new places to explore, dangerous dungeons and much more you'll just have to watch the video above to see for yourselves.

Riamel Black Prophecy - HOT NEWS as a 3 disk Amiga follow up to Lords of Time sees the light of day!

As so many of you are aware by now we love Retro games, especially games that have been lost into the ages and through these modern times have finally been recovered for many of us to enjoy. This is especially true for games such as Daffy Duck And The Great Paint Caper which was released on the C64. Thankfully more games are being recovered, as thanks to a heads up from Galahad via EAB, we have been told that Scoopex has made available a new and unreleased Amiga follow up to Lords of Time called Riamel Black Prophecy; A rather large 3 disk Amiga game that looks to have been originally created by Steve Postma and Bob Postma!

The demo footage above (as well as the game itself) which is linked below, requires 1.5 Meg of RAM or more to run, At least 512 K of this must be CHIP RAM as well as at least two disk drives or a hard drive with the ability to load from Workbench (as the game does come on three disks). As for the full game which has been provided by Scoopex, it encompasses a much larger playing area, includes several cities with some huge underground dungeon sequences, as well as the creatures that inhabit them. So yes a pretty incredible release for any Amiga user out there, and even more so when you read how the game was found and recovered with further details from the brilliant Games That Weren't (LINK).

This site contains beautiful retro posters and related artwork about some of the most revolutionary home computers of the 80s and early 90s: the Commodore Amiga family! All the available images are done by me, either as recreations of original Commodore posters, packaging, cover boxes, print ads, brochures and catalogs about the Amiga or as my own design concepts and ideas inspired by visual material of the Amiga era.

So, browse my website and relive those wonderful childhood memories! And why not download anything you fancy and go decorate your walls? Your retro corner deserves a bit of personal touch, doesn’t it?

Either way, let’s take a trip down memory lane and recall the time when computers were fun to use and play with!

An interesting article series by David "Talin" Joiner where he tells the stories behind the creation of his classic games. His other articles and website are also worth checking out.

Pool of Radiance, fixed EasyFlash release
(so it lives 100% in a cartridge image; which means no disk swapping and vastly reduced loading times!)

If I'm not mistaken, PoR was first released for the C64, therefore the engine itself was developed for the C64 then ported to other platforms, so this is the original version that started it all.

I played many of the gold box first on c64. My last game on the c64 was either the first savage frontier or death knights of krynn. I never found the first buck rogers for c64 but I did for pc on a 5.25" disk similar to c64.
