As it got past the 0.7.x build version, I have little doubts VD would pull the plug from now on. I won't jump into the "LOL Thursday" fad.

Besides, DNF never had any demos released, so it's already ahead of it.

Going to try it now and give some thoughts later.

It's all about the combat. Mind you I haven't been all the way through the demo, but what I've seen are snippets in dialogue with the arena master giving tastes of the lore and outside of that it's been all combat.

Oh. Bit of a disappointment, as I'm more interested in the writing than anything. Still worth a try, I suppose; here's hoping it works under Wine.

It does work with WINE. It can be sluggish in certain areas, but that seems to be a common issue many are experiencing.

Imposssible. I've got the same shit - the are no doors on 3 visible walls. The fourth one (bottom-left) may have the door, but you're unable to walk close enough to see it. Anyway to turn the camera?

The first time I played it was OK - the door were on the visible wall (top-right), but everytime I start a new game they're not there.

Massive damege to vital organs!

EDIT: Solution - stand in the top part of the arena and zoom out. The you can click the door on the bottom wall.

There's plenty of writing screens at the ITS forums if you haven't already checked them out. The writing is good. Doesn't seem like PST level but better than most. But anyway, here's some dialogue you get after becoming grand champion.

uh-oh! aod doesn't like windows 7 i guess, lol. i can get to the actual game, but the in-game menu looks the same way (fubar), and when i click on the arena master a sound starts looping and the game freezes. or maybe my version is messed up? i grabbed the copy off of megaupload.

Game froze when I talked to arena master too. Not Win7 problem, since I'm running Ubuntu on my office PC.

somebody do a let's play.

  1. starting in fullscreen without resolution selection or startup at desktop resolution is not nice. not nice at all. means it won't work at all on certain setups, and having it fuck up dual screens is annoying.
  2. aod.exe trying to connect to akamai is not nice either.
  3. name entry field is kinda really short.
  4. no redheads?

Rotate the camera by holding down the middle button or the scroll wheel, or by pressing ctrl and moving your mouse to the edge of the screen.

Right click to move? That is really really odd.

Your starting weapon should be auto equiped.

Rather than make the other merchants do nothing (very odd), have them say they are selling stuff useless to the player (food and memorabilia) and don't give an option to buy it and tell the player if he wants weapons/armor what merchant to talk to. You could also remove them for the demo, they are a bit confusing.

Loading when dead crashes.

I appear to have a corupted save file (seperate from loading while dead).
