Okay I'm back to playing this robot game where you stab helicopters, what's the equivalent of Havel's + Greatshield + Greatsword in this as far as making the game extremely easy?

Get quad legs, slap on the generator for 416k, equip plasma rifles on both hands, equip big laser rifles for each shoulder, go to town.

... I've just started this game. The "helicopter" people were complaining about isn't the thing in the introduction is it? If so, did they nerf the shit out of it in a patch right after launch?

They nerfed nothing. People just didn't understand how the stagger mechanic worked so they all tried to simply shoot the thing down and fail at it (i'm not even sure you have enough ammo to actually dog it out with it, all though at some point he still will be staggered even if you just shoot at it from a distance).

I would wager it was intentional NOT to explain the stagger mechanic until you got killed, after which the game explains to you how to beat the helicopter, all though i'm sure a lot of people skipped that part as well if they still got filtered afterwards.

If the thing doesn't fly out of the perimeter of the combat area, you can literally kill it in 30 seconds, even less if you time your boost correctly when he does his little flying routine.

This is my first modern AC so it's kinda funny how easy it is to pilot the mech. I only finished AC1 and tried AC2 for a bit on the PS2 and the shit controls made it feel more like a mech simulator.
Same; doesn't feel very "mechwarrior" but it nails the "anime" mecha feel. Smooth
This changed with AC4 (PS3/360) era. Mechs were made much more agile and gameplay was altered significantly compared to earlier entries. It's a matter of taste but it was a good change on many areas. AC6 simply refines that trend.

Finally gave the game a shot after a week of irl hell. I smoked the supposed "filter boss" in the tutorial while drunk off my ass. Some filter. Video possibly incoming. I said the nigger word a couple times so youtube might not let me upload it. I do what I do in From Software games.

Imagine getting filtered by this, i even S ranked the tutorial mission just to make it harder:

I defaulted to use Quad Shotguns in a light weight build simply because all other weapons fucking sucks outside of Plasma Canon, Handguns and explosives.

All Rifle suck dick because of the stupid ass Stagger mechanic and how close you need to be so it actually deals damage... At least now the game is super fucking fun because Shotguns actually deal damage.

Stagger was a mistake.

Ok some of the mission rankings are wierd.

I just did Destroy the Transport Helicopters, killed all the MTs and ground shit, killed that big mech at the end with the female pilot, and got an A ranking.

So i figured, ok, this isn't bad. I tried twice more, and still got an A. So i google it and apparently you don't have to do shit, just kill the helicopters as fast as you can:

Tried it again... and still got an A lmao. I guess i need to come back when i got a faster boost or some shit, but what the hell the timer for the A ranking is WAY more generous than the S ranking one.

I really don't like how this works to be honest. I wish the ranking was based on completing everything in the mission. Timer is ok but don't just make me skip everything it's pretty silly this way.

Anyway, the more i'm getting used to the controls and how the mech works, the more i'm finding this combat system actually addicting. It felt awkward at first but i'm now settling in a nice flow.

Honestly, doing S ranks is gonna burn you out prematurely. It's more or less mandatory to beat the game three times, and the new content in each new cycle is worth the repeat playthroughs. Your NG+ and NG++ are gonna look like S rank speedruns anyway.

Speaking of NG+, what happens to your ranks? Do they all get wiped out?

Plus you are screwing the game economy, so probably game's gonna be a cake for you.

Well, for now i was just trying to get an hold on how ranking in missions worked, but yeah i think i'll stop. I got over 1 million credits already probably did some damage as it is.

Ok, so i went to look it up, and i'm not sure what to make of this:

Armored Core 6's NG+ apart from other FromSoftware titles is its unique approach: enemy difficulty doesn't increase, ensuring that the challenge remains consistent.
However, the advantages of NG+ in Armored Core 6 lie in the retention of all previously acquired weapons, mech parts, perks, and technology. This means that players commence the game with the same level of power they had at the end of their first playthrough, making the gameplay smoother and more enjoyable.Furthermore, NG+ introduces new cutscenes, additional choices in the storyline, and fresh missions, encouraging players to explore alternate paths and strive for different endings. Overall, Armored Core 6's NG+ enriches the gaming experience by allowing players to uncover new facets of the game while wielding their hard-earned arsenal.

So NG+ is basically easier than normal game going by this. That sounds a bit strange. Also, can you actually acquire all the parts by the end of normal game? That would mean you have nothing to look forward in NG+ (i mean in terms of gear) and beyond besides some of the extra parts you unlock there.

Lastly, is there anything beyond NG++?

The helicopter is a piece of marketing material. Everything about it is made in such a way that most people are going to be disoriented and die at least a couple of times before they figure out how to work the controls properly and that you're supposed to stab it. The invisible walls are completely insane, I don't know what they were thinking there. The whole opening has nothing to do with the game, the tutorials begin afterwards, the next missions are all normal and the next two boss encounters are cool. Why make such a bad first impression?

The only purpose it serves is to be *just* annoying enough to make everyone argue about the helicopter and who is or isn't good at video games. Everyone should be talking about how the game is pretty mediocre and the dialogue is horrendous, reminiscent of EDF. Sneaky ass japs.

NG+ has the same game flow and progression as regular NG (the regularly updated "Missions" tab). Nothing gets wiped, but the new and alternative missions get added to the mission replay section.

NG+ adds some variables to the old missions (on top of adding new ones). For example, you may get an opportunity to betray your employer to fight new boss ACs, or get alternative versions of the old missions. While the base game stuff is the same, all the new content is appropriately scaled for high-end gear.

I think the supposed way through the game is the corpo route first, then the RLF route (and the spoiler route for NG++, of course), since NG+ adds mostly new RLF-aligned missions.

As for equipment, I'd say you get 85% of everything during the 1st playthrough. NG+ gives you mostly weird or fringe stuff, while NG++ is more about
coral
items.

the first boss is hard so you continue to grind until you beat it, for me it probably took 30 tries (im an old man!), after that the controls just sits - and that's the purpose here of course. invisible walls are annoying but at least they're not hiding it, they make you fully aware of it which is either bold or stupid i guess.

I ... actually find it hard to believe that anyone who's played a video game before struggled with the helicopter tutorial boss. It blows my mind that this is a thing that people are complaining about.

Anyway, this game may be somewhat shallow and dumb but it's a lot of fun and is basically nerd porn. If this had come out when I was a kid, I'd probably have never met any girls.

I'm looking forward to spreading more freedom and liberty to the inhabitants of that God forsaken rock soon.
