If anyone haven't played it yet, and likes the soviet aesthetic and theme, i advise to play Singularity. Pretty cool FPS with some time bending elements. Atomic Heart reminded me about it.

You guys reminded me that it had a huge sequel hook but they never went back to the IP.

:argh:

At least the dev (Raven Software) is still around. Depending on who owns the IP, they might come back to it.

Would be naive to expect a sequel to an almost cancelled shooter that was made with chump change budget 12 years ago. There are multiple reasons why this never going to happen. As i recall Raven had lay offs after this game and were pretty much Activision slave labor studio since then. Todays Raven Soft? I bet 90% of it's employees have pronounce in their bio and pride flag next to the username. The fact that they are still around is as much a positive thing as Bioware still being around. Sorry to crush your dreams, i would have loved to play the sequel too.

Some areas look much worse than others, like they're from different games.

Bullet sponge enemies, bland open world sections, annoying protagonist, style > substance world, braindead AI. The devs learned from Bioshock Infinite, an already bad game, but in the opposite direction. Games are supposed to evolve, dammit.

It’s been a few years nows, so maybe things have changed, but last I heard (during a retrospect interview on Marvel Ultimate Alliance that Game Trailers did) a lot of people are still there. It seems lately Raven has been upgraded to being a co-developer on CoD games. Kind of hoping when the Microsoft deal happens they’re back to doing their own games.

Actually, a quick look over at MobyGames and a lot of the designers and leads credited on stuff like Jedi Academy, Soldier of Fortune 2, and Quake 4 have credits on Call of Duty games from 2020...so it’d seem a lot of them are still there.

Raven developed single-player campaign for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. Apparently it was pretty good, though I can't confirm that because I stopped playing CoD games more than ten years ago.

Its also living proof that SOUL can make a game better. Because technically and design wise, its just a worse Bioshock. But its more fun, for basically no reason other than that it oozes soul.

Is this the game that's funded by gazprom money and whose devs actively support Rusgolia?

Anyway, it looks like shit and I'm not gonna buy it.

State and capital is intertwined in Russia, and a video game developer will seek out capital. The guy who invests in them will inevitably also be invested in a bank, an energy company and a media company, because if he wasn't, he'd be eaten by those who are.
So I wouldn't judge the game on that. But I would judge it on marketing itself to coomers by advertising the two le sexy mommy robots more than the actual gameplay.

This game had investment both from Tencent and Gazprom, and it's on Game Pass so they got a ton of money from Microsoft too. If that isn't the definition of balance, I don't know what is. Maybe the owner is Jewish, who knows?

Gotta support my comrades. The war in the Ukraine's been going on for far too long, may be my money will help speed things up.
