Oh shit, they mention in the above video that Microsoft now owns the Quest for Glory IP after their acquisition of Activision, I had completely forgotten about that.

Yup, just like they own Arcanum. There was some talk about that on the forum after the Activision acquisition but nothing happened so I guess it faded from memory.

I would not mind Inxile getting a chance to make Arcanum 2. Wasteland 3 was well done and fun.

Her[Carie’s] favorite games are Dishonored, Morrowind and Mass Effect
Unironically Awoved has a lot in common with Morrowind: you arrive on a ship to a strange land as an envoy from jungle Empire; you seem to exhibit some powers that uniquely tie to indigenous beliefs, granted to you by a true God(?) to battle an illness that plagues local populace; you arrive at the shore of a port town, with familiar architecture, while over places on the island are inhospitable wastelands, swamps, volcanic mounts, magical shrooms and ruins of the mysteriously vanished ancient atheist civilization, with superior technological level; the main antagonist is wearing a mask with glowing eyes and supposed to be dead; the game itself very different from previous installments in the series, leaning toward 3D action than CRPG, directed by other people and targets the audience of XBox gamers.

Tldr: Feargus was right, Avowed isn’t obsidian’s Skyrim, it’s obsidian’s Morrowind! (probably going to be boring slop regardless)
You make this sound like Skyrim or Morrowind were cRPGs instead of 3d action LOL (and both were walking simulators)
I don’t know how you get that impression, but I specifically state that Morrowind(just like Avowed) leans towards 3D action, whereas their predecessors(TES1-2 and PoE1-2) are more akin to CRPGs(Ultima games and Infinity Engine games respectively).

Also I didn’t compare quality of two games(which would be stupid, cause Avowed hasn’t been released yet), just noted similarities and raised a silent question: Could these similarities come from inspirations instead? Considering how Patel also mentions Dishonored(a confirmed inspiration behind combat) and Mass Effect(inspiration behind companions and story), one would assume that Morrowind was an inspiration as well(for worldbuilding and narrative). Or perhaps all of these just a marketing buzzwords.

Carrie seems fairly woke but not on the same level as super woke types like Veilguard's director.
She's been pushing queer characters ever since The White March part 2 and was a dangerhair for a while until it became time to promote Avowed as its director, giving herself a more professional-looking make-over. Though I suppose it's accurate to say this requires more awareness than the average lib.

people realizing that they worked years on a game that is actually fun just a week before it's shipped....yeah. what more do wish to know about obsidian?
im sure there were plenty of employees who did nothing but sit in a dark room, creating textures for various hats, thinking: "Is this game even fun? I have no idea"

I mean, what does that mean? what so different in dialogues in his films?
“Make it dark, make it grim, make it tough, but then, for the love of God, tell a joke.” Joss Whedon
“Whedonesque” dialogue, also known as “soy banter.”
If a character reacts to, say, their newly discovered superpowers by saying, “umm …. so that’s a thing that happened,” well, that’s “Whedonesque” dialogue.
This style of writing was once viewed as cool and clever, but is now generally perceived as annoying and “cringe,” as it often undermines serious moments, or seems to make fun of the audience for enjoying the story.

Serious question: So what? This series concluded, isn't coming back, and would bear literally no relation to the originals even if it did return.

You're probably right, it's just that I played the QfG games so much as a kid that now my brain causes my heart to skip a beat whenever some "mainstream" medium mentions the series.

I mean, what does that mean? what so different in dialogues in his films?

It's a reference to mostly his Avengers films, where the heroes, no matter how serious the situation around them is, constantly spew humorous and sarcastic one-liners and the dialogue is fast and quippy. It worked for the Avengers (based on the films' financial success), so the average corpo brain now thinks that "quippy dialogue = THE YOUNGSTERS WILL JUST GIVE YOU $$$" and advocate for such dialogue in most boardroom-designed AAA games.

All I know right now is that Mass Effect is the ultimate cause of decline in modern day Westerns RPGs........ who could have thought that?

If Morrowind is an action game to you, maybe stick to turn based games and turn in your drivers license.
Oh I try. I consider these 1st person, 3rd person games much worse than any isometric RPG. When people were playing Morrowind at release I was still playing BG1/BG2 and considered all of you casuals.

19XXX-2000s: Go into the games industry, make cool stuff, make no money unless you're lucky

Now: Go into the games industry, change your hair color, get brainwashed, make no money

Yeah, real enticing offer there

I didn't get overly into Morrowind either. That being said, it's less action oriented than almost anything that I can think of that still involves movement. In fact, I think there's a pretty good argument that BG1&2 are more casual and action oriented than Morrowind, even though I like them more too. I just don't think it's the sort of monocled comeback you seem to think it is.

I feel you for sure. It's not that I don't get that, just more that like... I can't see any viable path for that to return unless the Coles get a time machine and round up some of the Sierra team they had, etc. Best to just replay the classics and be glad that Microsoft isn't trying to exhume it as some sort of Game Pass action game.

All three are great games and Morrowind is a masterpiece.

Infinitron, asking here for your permission out of respect, if I make a thread titled "Would you rape Carrie Patel?", with a poll, is that okay?

Personally, I wouldn't even rape her, but I'd like to know what the consensus is.
The fuck is wrong with you?
