You are very naive. Or blind. This is one of those games which cannot be salvaged
I am probably naive, I also thought Diablo 4 could be salvaged if I gave it 1 year :D
It was pretty good after loot reborn update.
Not really. Still no real interesting character building options, boring endgame with way too fast leveling and still terrible gather spender skill system.
Right. But Diablo 2 with endgame of "keep killing this boss for the next 2 years spamming two buttons at most" was peak ARPG.

Just so you know, you're coping hard and everyone knows it.

Why would I have to? D4 crushed sales and made a fuckton of money. Direct your bs towards poetards :)

Diablo 1/2 were the best ARPGs of all time. D4 can't dream of coming close or being as culturally relevant as D2(or D1 for that matter).

I swear all these fags using words like "it made a fuckton of money" should be imprisoned in a mud pit with Rougey and condemned to fight a 80 foot tall tranny with a full bladder forever
Sorry to disappoint but developers make games as means to get loaded, not to express themselves. These ain't the 2000s anymore. You can hate the trend but you can't stop it.

No ARPG ever will beat the cultural impact of D1 and 2. It's literally impossible. I was only shitting on them for dated gameplay.

Diablo 1/2 and all the Diablo-like games are utterly shit.

Dated gameplay, whereas D4's gameplay is incredible amirite. It's so fun and engaging completing MMO quests in an ARPG and killing bosses so weak that you could blindfold yourself and still not die to them. Truly a game for the modern age

Not true for most bosses on the highest available difficulty.
That you only reach on highest difficulty after playing for way too long.
In the meantime in D1 you died to Butcher after 1h of play. In D2 for new players both Act 1 boss and Act 2 boss murdered plenty of players.
And even PoE2 now has bosses that can easily murder you within 1 hour of playtime

I didn't say the highest difficulty there is, just whatever is the highest difficulty at any given moment. If you switch to a new difficulty whenever it's unlocked, you won't find the bosses easy, quite the opposite in fact.

For someone who doesn't play Avowed you sure spend a lot of time in this thread.
How else do I keep track of whom to add to the list?

Maybe you should add myself to the list as an honorary member. :smug:
Oh, sure!

Weak. I expected better. Now the integrity of both lists are in question. :smug:

Same thing happened with veilguard
Game got slaughtered.

Anyway my point is these big studios are the only ones with big budgets so everyone kinda has to play them
No we dont, we can just ignore them, play something else. Maybe 5 years ago it was enough to push a release for it to sell, but nowadays the whole paradigm has shifted. People are either buying asian, indie or old games.

Avowed marks an interesting point in history where, for perhaps the first time ever, /v/ (and by extension RPGCodex :() were objectively wrong about a game
There was an attempt to bait and switch, with the games direction changing wildly after the first trailer. That said, I called it shit back then.
Bet against obsidian and you will win, thats the lesson here. They are gay and retarded beyond measure and you never come back from that.

Bet against anyone jampacked with women, male feminists, weirdos, troons, twitterati and other DEI hires.

If Microsoft goes full Trump on them, purge Obsidian into the ground and puts veterans - or at least any ugly-as-fuck competent neckbeards - back in charge you can start going bullish on them again.

Companions do the thing where they banter back and forth periodically during travel. That was cool 25 years ago. Does anyone think it's a good idea in a game with 4 companions, and in which you can't choose to travel alone? Imagine what kind of asshole you'd have to be to replay this game, and you're rewarded for your behavior by hearing the same dull-as-dishwater conversations over and over again. It's not like BG where you can roll with a wildly different party from playthrough to playthrough.
