I have no idea why you would think I'm a larian cultist or where you even got the idea from. I've been the most vocally anti-larian poster in this thread. I would assume you would at least know what you're talking about when you're so confident.

Ye the game will definitely have fagglarian flavour to it, but I sincerely believe that it will be a good game. I am a massive storyfagg and as long as the story isn't absolute dogshit and choices actually have consequences, I'll be content.
C&C is a myth. No one has actually ever seen it, just heard about it. Just like Neverwinter

It is always a theater. Obviously you never will have a game where your actions spread throughout the world. What we want when we say C&C is a carefully crafted illusion that make it seem like the world reacts, even if it be very minor changes. Sometimes a picture with text is what makes all the difference in the world. Imagine if DA:O, FNV, Arcanum etc. didn't have the ending slides.

Edit: Where I would like to see most reactivity is your companions. Devs can never make the changes branch out and heavily affect the macrocosm, but they sure can do it within the personal microcosm of you and your companions.

Did Cyberpunk 2077 killed this game?

Nope. One is a ARPG, other is a CRPG
They stopped advertising the game and their company as rpg and are now just going with action-adventure. We may not be able to agree on the definition of what an rpg is but at least we can agree that witcher 3 and cyberpunk aren't it. They changed a bunch of their social media bio's to not include rpg. Even their steam description doesn't have it, although they still have the user assigned tag

I'd say, despite it's many flaws, DA:O had tangible C&C. If you disagree, take it up with VD -> https://rpgcodex.net/content.php?id=195

It's been years since I played, but I remember using a mod in my mage play through that restored some cut content. The content restored revolved around you being a blood mage, and if at the conclusion of the broken tower, you failed a speech check the templars, wynn & head mage would find out you are a blood mage + attack you... Long story short, they really did try and pull off some major C&C, but IIRC a good bit of it did not make it into the final version.

Still the whole Redcliffe + tower + cultist quest lines had some C&C and not just short term flavor shit.

I didn't follow the thread much. Mechanics aside, can someone confirm this installment retains the atmosphere of BG games?

I'm still playing it and having a blast. It's great that certain situations have two or three solutions and that, while generally very simple, they are not imposed on the player through a series of selectable options, but organically discovered through gameplay. Like in the witch's abode, where:

to get to the last room you have to go through an area filled with poison clouds, and you can:
- put on the mask that makes you a servant of the hag to ignore the clouds, and then cast Protection from Evil to ignore the possession;
- make the clouds explode with Fire Bolt, and then quench the flames with Create Water;
- cast Feather Fall and just jump to the bottom of the pit, skipping the whole ordeal.
The whole Fetid Bog is a very cool area, despite it being a bit too empty. I think they could easily add an encounter or two without ruining the pace too much.

I know a few others here feel the same way I do: the game seems cool, why spoil the beginning by playing it all before actual release?

I might check it out more when they start adding in more character creation options.

I stopped playing and lost nearly all interest when I realized that this game really isn't a new addition to the Baldur's Gate series, but pretty much just an Original Sin 2 clone set in the Forgotten Realms.

It will probably still be a hit though. I also suspect Biodrones will come out in force to buy it, simply because it is also a cringeworthy soft porno.

So, basically nobody outside of NJClaw is playing this game? Interdasting.

I tried. Yes, really, I tried. I downloaded the thing, I installed it, I created my character, groaned a little, started playing. Yawned. But, hey, maybe it's a slow burn, so endured the tutorial part on a ship and beach sequence after crash landing. Then I tried a little adventuring, went here, went there, met some people (? - I don't know if they were, I don't remember much about 'em), ended up in druid's grove. Then goblin's village. And then I quit, just before reaching the underdark.

And you know what? I barely remember anything about this game. I don't remember NPC's names, I don't remember quests, there is big blurry nothing when I try to recall things. And that was only two months ago or so. Usually I remember things from games I played, but not this one. Hell, I even remember better playing first DOS, and it was a drag and snoozefest.

Oh, I remember just one thing - my companions, all of them, tried to fuck me in my camp after defeating goblin chieftan and rescueing tieflings. Without a single warning, every one of them, even the ones that despised me. If that's how realtionships are in Belgium, I pity them.

Well, there isn't really anything to do once you already played it more than once with the previous patches.
I'll be back when new content and/or new mechanics will be implemented.

I may even start enjoying it again, should they ever get rid of the insufferable toilet chain.

I am waiting until it leaves the Early Access. Have enough games to play as it is right now and I don't want to burn myself out playtesting something that's unfinished. And even then I am not certain I'll buy it. Depends a lot on how much content will be in the final version.

I think 3D games are lss memorable somehow than isometric.
Somehow - too many details that distract you probably, so without superior art and visual design it all blurr into some mess?
