The real time aspect is not the problem, is the simultaneous sequence of actions. That is why RTwP haters also throw a hissy fit when confronted with simultaneous turn-based (check the Mechajammer thread).

It not even the worst D&D game as Sword coast Legends exists. After people write mod to make the game more like 3E or 2E and remove the Larienism of the game, the game will be great. Even if BG3 become the better 5E game, IMO the worst 2E/3E game still superior to the best 5E game.

I've said in beta that if you aren't into power fantasy, there aren't much stuff good in Wrath. And even I who enjoy power fantasy found the later chapters too bloated. Think in a Abyssal mythic version of House at Edge of Time(the worst part of kingmaker) I wish that OwlCat will adapt a lv 1~15 adventure path next, lv 15 is not low level. Is the same lv cap of Wake of the Ravager, a game which you fight a freaking Tarrasque, cause a massive genocide in a mindflayer colony,fight hordes of defilers and so on. And a 2E game.

Instead they made BalD:OS Gate 3 and told BG1+2 fans they had no interest in their preferences.

Because everyone in the market said that turn based is less popular and the market for RwTP and RT is bigger. You can compare ToEE and NWN1 sales to see. Both are 3E D&D adaptations, but NWN1 sold way more, despite being less faithful. Even JRRPG's are becoming more real time and action based. Most 2E D&D games are turn based, in fact, I believe that all games from SSI are turn based. From pool of radiance to dark sun : wake of the ravager, the unique exception to that rule is Ravenloft: Strahd's Possession which is from SSI and is Rt(not RtWP). And guess what? Selecting spells and timing attacks in mid of combat is a chore. Relying on the awful aiming of the game which makes me very likely to miss and waste tier 6 spells like freezing sphere(which are the strongest spells in the game). The game would be better if I could play in TB.

The decision from making BG1/2 RtWP was not because is a better system. Was just a market decision and honestly, lead to some problems. For eg, initiative which is vital in 2E is worthless. IMO the problems of BG3 I already said many times in this thread. None of then are by the turn based.

I do enjoy action games and ARPG's but I believe that for controlling a party, TB is a superior system. For controlling a character, RtWP is a superior system.

No, micro managing a party in RtWP is a chore. Mainly when they have retarded AI(99% of cases)

Anyway, BG3 IMO could have faster animations, deadlier and more interesting encounters, better companions, no astarion, better ruleset, no astarion, better magical items, no hp bloat, no astarion, more subclasses, no astarion, more interesting locations, no astarion, better UI to prepare spells and lastly no astarion.
