This point I have to agree. And honestly, Larian fixed some really bad stuff in BG3 like surface effects in mere cantrips like firebolt.

The game which I chilled most in Codex is Dark Sun : Wake of the Ravager. But yes, WoTR if you like power fantasy and build crafting, is a amazing game.

Well, I did finished WoTR as a half vampire(dhampir) "blood necromancer" cruoromancer who uses his own tainted blood to power necromancies and he decided to kill his former master and not become a lich in ch 5. Also played as an Azata cryomancer(Elemental specialist - cold), despite both being wizards, both are COMPLETELY different types of wizard. I had completely different quests in many chapters. Even faced completely different enemies in chapter 5. You can build so many interesting characters in that game. I din't found any build in BG3 interesting TBH. Maybe when the game launches or if Larian makes modding BG3 easier, it will change, but playing a char that I like is vital for my enjoyment of any RPG but I din't liked any wizard subclass present in the game, nor warlock pact(both classes are the unique of my interest).

Anyway, Even I who don't like Larian must recognize that :

• Larian re popularized turn based RPG's. If I can play OwlCat games in TB is partially thanks to Larian.
• Larian is addressing most of bad points of BG3. No more surface effects, the UI improved(still too similar to DOS2)
• Larian offers high reactivity. While in WoTR you only see reactivity in later chapters, in Larian you see a lot of it since chapter 1
• Larian is the unique high production cost AAA company that makes proper RPG's. While BioWare only makes shit like DA:I, ME:Andromeda and Bugthesda launches fallout 76, Larian games are good in comparison to this games.

Convoluted mechanics =/= good game

I kinda agree. Gothic 1/2/3 have very simple mechanics and are great games. But PF1E and AD&D 2E don't have convoluted mechanics. Convoluted mechanics is like FATAL TTRPG or GURPS if the ""DM"" goes full rule-autism(because gurps can be rule light if the group wanna)

Yep. I that is a problem. In higher difficulties, respec isn't allowed. Respec is a clear decline.

one of the few things I liked about deadfiya was that it let you pick from a handful of fitting classes/subclasses, but even then it sometimes went too far(e.g., Eder as a rogue)

Dunnou, I find it more fun to get the most out of what a companion has to offer. I even encouraged myself to make suboptimal builds and to leave some unpredictability in character leveling. Frankly I find 5e to be quite friendly to this need. Some games e.g. Underrail demands builds to be optimized and thoroughly planned over which I also like, but consider a genre of its own.

Maybe you should have, idk, looked at their previous early access before buying this one?
DOS2 EA never had more than Fort Joy. I wasn't expecting them to add any new zones.

Grymforge was accessible when the game first released in October 2020, I took a screenshot there.
Surprise, most of the game was already implemented in some form. Yes, including Baldur's Gate itself, and yes, I already posted about the zones that will be in the game well over a year ago.

Also, I've found act 2 information so I'm guessing some of it is already in the game and someone found a way to access it

Owlcat kickstarted, developed and released WotR in less than 2 years. 25 classes, 5+ archetypes for each class, 9 mythic paths...
