What devs don't get is that it's more satisfying to slowly realize a character is something other than straight. Announcing it before the game even releases, like in the case of WotR or iirc DA: Inquisition, is joyless and a bummer. You have to maintain that mystery, you know? I'm not saying loud and proud characters shouldn't ever appear, but it should be a part of their personality, not a press release before the game comes out. I think Zevran, as an example of a loud and proud, was handled somewhat ok.

1) you meet your obligatory companion in tavern when he just finished sucking cocks in drag queen outfit/
2) you meet companion and you realize he is gay like 10hours later and like okay you're cocksucker but that's kinda ok.
