You literally left me speechless with this gameplay video. Will fit right in with the current times, next to Wrath of the Tranny and Dragon Age: Bullrider. Obviously the game doesn't take itself seriously but it surely destroys my immersion.

I am perfectly fine having this cringe stuff in certain type of movies where it is enjoyable but NOT in my beloved Baldur's Gate!

It isn't that bad. Just like promotion materials said the game is bending around player. In fact, some companions want to stop you before opening these doors and are displeased when you do that. Also, acting silly is only an option.

I admit I did laugh at this when I played EA, but I blame the IPA I was thoroughly enjoying at the time.

The humour is a bit puerile but I'd certainly try not to let it ruin what otherwise looks to like a solid game and a rewarding experience to play. I suppose stuff like this is an attempt to mirror the kind of ridiculous nonsense you end up dealing with round the table in a TTRPG, but videos like that in this context make it look a little deranged.

Cringe gameplay for cringe players. Simple as it.

worst part of the video is the person rolls a '6' needing a 17 to succeed and then somehow with a bunch of gay zoomer 'don't make me cry' bonuses actually ends up overcoming the 17 challenge rating.

Bonuses come from statistics. Nihil novi sub sole in D&D world.

But perhaps you are right, BG3 is shizo game for perverts. And I like BG3, it means I'm subverted white Frenchman. Le pervert de l'Hexagone.

I just put there this completely unrelated video:

Actually loviatar was always a divinity present on Forgotten realms. There are plenty of deviant divinity.
Loviatar.
Sharess that has in her portfolio carnal pleasure as well.
Is just that the old games in past had the habit to show the good boy stuff.

I don't deny this. In fact, I'm finally matured to fully embracing the tradition.

Not even mentioning that in past there were prestige classes that revolved about manipulation using seduction and even sex.
Is just that the old bg games focused only in the good christian side of D&D while bg3 focus on all the aspects on it.

Just like a Paladin using his Smite.
Well, I think Larian being clumsy here, that's all. We need to check this again in the release build because both cases look like a bug. Now that you mentioned it I think I also seen Laezel using riposte and opportuity attack in one turn but not 100% sure.

BG3 is closer to the original Greenwood vision than anything else.

It was posted earlier, but is still funny:

Forgotten Realms And Sex

The current Forgotten Realms material is highly sanitized from Ed's original vision. In FR as created by Ed:

  • Bisexuality is normal (and yes, this means the men as well as the women)
  • Transgenderism is encouraged by several deities so that priests can experience life as the other sex
  • "Revels" (some of which involve sex) are normal
  • "Festhalls" (many of which employ prostitutes as staff) are relatively common and visiting them is the normal way to spend an evening.
  • Prostitution is a core industry of the Forgotten Realms; "sex workers" are all over and there are about 40 different names for different kinds of prostitutes.
  • Incest is a normal way for noble families to "indulge feelings of mutual affection" (poor people don't as they can't afford the contraception)
  • Pretty much all of the immortal NPCs in the Realms have come to believe that accepted sexual norms such as temperance are bullshit, so they flout them. Constantly.

All of this is confirmed by Ed Greenwood himself via his responses to fan queries on the Candlekeep forum. So Saith Ed here, here, and here. It's also all completely 100% canon thanks to Ed's ludicrously favorable contract.

Of course, this isn't exactly out of place in certain historical periods and cultures. For example, the Greeks and Etruscans were particularly known for having frequent orgies, Canaanite religion frequently involved cross-dressing (which may be why the Bible forbids it) and the nobility of many cultures from the Ptolemaic Egyptians to Hawaii to the House of Habsburg practiced various forms of incest so as to keep power within the family and avoid muddling their bloodlines with peasant genome; Rome had all of the above at various points. Therefore, some individual cultures or nations with these things going on probably wouldn't be too far off the mark, and notably, the post that included the stuff about incest also included that Ed himself is against incest... but when the whole damn world is into this stuff, it's not treated as a problem, no one questions it, and there's no sign of things changing, then clearly the author has something on his mind.

In short, the Forgotten Realms are Ed Greenwood's magical realm as cleaned up by TSR and later Hasbro for general consumption, and the Romantic Encounters mod for Baldur's Gate is probably canon.

As of 5E, WoTC has decided to embrace the first bullet-point, and there are random bits of homosexuality everywhere. Two men sharing a bed, a married pair of male porters and married pair of homesteaders, a gnome settlement with two kings, and a shopkeeper with nonbinary pronouns all appear in 5e adventures. An attempt to Retcon the massively corrupt and crime-ridden city of Waterdeep into "Seattle during Pride" was actually met with significant backlash.

No regular orgies in every village yet, but Rime of the Frostmaiden does feature a completely inbred town.

I am doing a quick run through EA to explore and test out stealth, and there is a weird interaction between stealth and combat state. For example, if the entire party is in stealth and one member moves ahead to initiate combat, there are times that the rest of the party still remains outside of combat and can move/act freely. In the temple ruins, my character took a shot and immediately ran around a corner, and when the barbarian enemy used dash to close the gap, I changed control to another party member. Not only did the barbarian not cede its turn to the next enemy, I was able to attack again with my other party members.

While it didn't completely break the encounter, it did allow a character to interject in the turn order.
It's because the initiative is handled ass-backwards: it triggers when an enemy combatant perceives the individual PC, rather than when the individual PC perceives the combat. Larian have to accommodate multiplayer and party members simply doing different things far apart, so they can't roll initiative globally, but they picked the incorrect solution.

And yes, it can significantly break encounters, I was once able to have Shadowheart freely skulk about and shove half of the goblin ambushers off their roofs while they were standing around like idiots, engaged with the rest of my party's turn. This was roughly three years ago, when I last played the EA.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
The team took the task of inclusion very seriously. They talked to consultants and animators to create Black hairstyles, for instance.
I laughed at this. So they talked to consultants and probably hired specialists to make hairstyles of the most mysterious and rare mythical men of Africa that they have never seen before apparently. Jesus H :)
Yes Larian is a company in Europe and many regions on this content are still blessed with a total lack of black people, I know many people who've never seen one IRL before and I envy them.

Yes, I for example, have never seen a nigger or a tranny irl. But I doubt that is true for any Larian employee, considering they're based in Belgium.

We weren't racist enough centuries ago. We should have never admitted them to Europe.

lol...I went to public school in oakland california until 4th grade, then moved to SF, that will cure somebodies desire to 'see exotic races' for a lifetime. I was the exotic race. Larian probably got some gov. funding for hiring Afro hair consultants, then later it also lets the black women continue the thing where they feign some sort of lifetime damage from white people about: "dey always just be reachen out an grabbin at our hair! don even be asking, just touchin and pattin it and shit like it be some animal curl up on my head"

You still got pictures and movies you could use. But I guess the logically diverse way of doing things nowadays is flying in a couple of "experts" from Chicago or something.

I'm decently sure they're just listed under the interface but don't actually cost a reaction to use, though confirming it would be nice. Probably won't be able to myself until sometime the week after next, will let you know if I get the time before you :)
