Everything about this looks great except for the writing/story, which seems like the most important thing about a Baldur's Gate successor? Probably should have just made a differently titled D&D spinoff game instead of taking the mantle of one of the most well known RPGs of all time

Setting everything on fire and unnecessary mage hand shenanigans sounds like something that would happen in one of my weekly games.

Even D:OS-like combat is better than any RTwP-adapted D&D abomination.
From what i see in live footage its not DOS combat its real D&D combat with all its perks, truly by the book. Was expecting a betrayal but now its most incline thing since 20 years….
Almost by the book. For example the Special Attack like Pin Down for each weapon type is something that was trialed in some of the 5E playtest versions, but didn't make it to the PHB. Seems like they're bringing back a few more complex parts of the playtest material that's better suited to a CRPG.
yes and cunning action: disengage is translated into some epic jump too.

Wouldn't say that. BG might not be IW, but it isn't PST either. That being said, this shit doesn't even have that (good) campy feel going for it.
