It's absolutely unfathomable problem to me. Supposedly it should be either genre-purist related (which would be odd since there's no RPG definition and everybody can argue forever about it) or something stricktly combatfag-related.
In any case, I've enjoyed DE greatly on a level I've enjoyed some combatfagish games like Underrail or Wizardry 8 if I take something recent (for me). DOS 2, on the other hand, at least in a SP mode is unbeleivable snore-fest with only a few exciting encounters at the beginning. So, why should I care about some genre-purists if the one game is gud and the other is not? The devs advertising DE as an RPG, it's enough for me.
Cause it's that kind of relativism that leads to all kinds of other shit, RPG related or otherwise. I mean fuck it, if the lines of RPGs are so blury why not declare the new CoD an RPG? Either shit has meaning or it doesn't, and if it doesn't then why the fuck are we talking about it?
Regardless of what other base requirements a game needs to be considered an RPG, at the bare minimum it does require some form of combat.
You enjoyed Disco? Great, I'm happy for you. But move the discussion related to that game to general gaming discussion and take the fucking thing off of GOTY.
