Gale has this entire "let's learn magic" scene with no indication that it will be romantic beforehand, that has your character animated like a massive faggot, who is uncomfortably close to Gale right up until the end where you choose whether or not to kiss him.
This shit was so weird. A whole scene of the over-animated smug almost-gays where it goes on far enough to where you can tell he wants to root around inside of your ass until the game goes "Hmm, are you sure you want to fuck Gale? Y/N"

Does anyone know which writer wrote which companions? I would love to put names to faces on this one. I only know Kevin VanOrd (hard gay homo cuck ex-games journalist) wrote Lae'Zel (polygamous cuckoldress nutcase) and that's it, and I only know that from the repeated shitposting of one schizo on /v/.

So i just booted the game again and walked around the tutorial. Like i suspected, i really don't like how modern fantasy games look. Everything is overbright, bloomy, cartoony, and it just reminds me of Fable more than Baldur's Gate.

Graphics are pretty good but also pretty heavy on my system, all though i was expecting worse. The game defaulted to ultra setting by itself and on my 5700XT i get around 40 FPS just walking around the starting area. FSR gets me over 60 FPS on the ultra preset. Not sure if it's better to use this as opposed to lowering the main setting to high instead.

Still not sure what's the difference between choosing a preset-character over making your own. Do you get different interactions?

Ayio anybody made it to act 2 yet?

There's this part, which they also showed in the last panel from hell with the drider. Can you find his body once you send him to die? Or alternatively, does he drop something good if you decide to kill him on the spot?

Every character has its own personal quest and interactions. While you can experience most of their content by simply recruiting them, specific aspects, quests and information only become revealed when you play as them.

My largest complaint about this system is that Larian decided to completely bolt down the customization of these "persona's" this time. I wish I could at least alter their appearance.

Yes. Each has their own personal quest spanning the length of the game.

Fuck, I'm drow. So I guess his body and loot just vanishes if you let him die in the darkness.

this combat is going to be so godsdamned good once someone makes a good difficulty mod

most encounters are really well designed, just lacking in enemy numbers and AI

Not going good with Josh retweeting this

What the fuck does that even mean?

Looks like some schizo take jab at Larian, FromSoft and Nintendo about how they've done nothing but make the same game for 20-40 years and that's why their newest game is a genre-best in the industry. This is obviously ignoring that every other game developer is just as creatively bankrupt if not more (including Sawyer).

I guess the idea is that those games are successful only because it's the same shit over and over?

Basically, Sawyer is salty that nobody gives a shit about his boring nu-system that took out all the fun, and people just wanted the same old DnD shit (that's infinitely better than anything he ever came up with).

And while it's true that From has been making the same game for years, none of those nu-devs could even dream of making something like the Dark Souls games.

Matter of taste. I'm playing durge and think custom is probably best for 90% of players. The other origins don't change the story radically compared to durge, just gives you background, so if you like one of them I say go with it. It means you get one less companion though (as you'll be playing as that companion).

Gee, let me compare my niche indie game to the complete opposite. Mine was also a critical darling but was bought by no-one, abloo hoo.

Same reason everyone and their dog blamed every failure on COVID the past 2-3 years. Anything is to blame apart from themselves.

If he had shoved his novel design ideas up his asshole and just gave people what they wanted in Pillars he'd be sitting on a pile of cash right now. But nooooooo, muh balance, muh creative genius. Suck it bitch, at least i can understand what the fuck i'm doing in DnD.

They don’t add much. You get their quests anyway as companions.

I think custom Bard alone has more unique stuff that most origins (outside of Dark Urge, that potentially changes like a third of the game’s dialogues).
