Storywise the third act feels like a different game, it feels like you are at the beginning of a game instead of the thrid act.
Probably because you're visiting a normal town for the first time in the game.

And no, I don't mean because everything is so epic or whatever before this. I mean that this is the first time you're seeing a town with any significant number of humans in daylight.

I mean, I think both criticisms are valid. BG3 almost comes across as a deconstruction of D&D--it's a complete reversal of how these things are supposed to be structured. I was willing to be proven wrong on this point, but as time goes on the more I feel validated in my belief that they completely fucked the pooch by not understanding why a traditional adventuring story is the way it is. You're supposed to build towards epic and strange things. Starting with them robs all of the appeal of it.

Planescape gets away with it because it is Planescape and because the strange gets stranger, but Faerun doesn't work that way.

The fight is actually piss easy according to friend of mine (I know you are reading!).
Of course it is. Just use hold person on every potentially dangerous enemy caster, as usual (here I miss the Solasta's counterspell on counterspell exchanges). The only somewhat tricky part is to either pick the alert feat or use +initiative elixir by your cc guy(s). I was buffled by complains about Ja-ja insta dying. Moreover, you can triviliaze that fight far, far more by killing the true gnoll soul baforehand as well as the half-orc disciple upstairs, as well as some other guards... The only way to make matters at least somewhat challenging is to leeroyjenkins yourself right in the main hall when the game even reminds you that's unreasonable thing to do, then lets you do it anyway but Kethric conviniently leaves the room - that was lame.

Hah! Go from FR in the beginning and then look at the novels as time progressed. There was some serious BLEH moments in the time line. This game hardly breaks the broken.

Member how during GamerGate our queen Anita recorded a video of herself playing Hitman, killing all female NPCs and dragging their corpses into one room, I think naked? to comment about the game being misogynist. Which is of course not the intended way to play, and not how anyone plays.
Creating circus freaks like that, to comment on how woke the character creator is, reminds me of that for some reason.
Reminder that they purposefully disabled sliders for PCs and completely removed any appearance editing for mercs who have no personality or any reason to be restricted. They made people use a limited set of options and included enough clownish options in that set so that RNG always creates abominations.

And if we used the 2E timescale (edit: as Eisenheinrich suggests, I see), the book I am referencing ("The Complete Book of Elves") still rebukes your argument:
Elves do not feel the effects of age as humans know them. After an elf has grown to maturity, her features cease to change or, at least, change very slowly. There is very little difference between the way a 100-year-old elf and a 400-year-old elf appear. The only way to tell between young and old is the degree of exuberance, spontaneity, and enthusiasm each exhibit. Only at venerable age do elves begin to show their years, yet they still appear younger than most humans do at age 50.
I wouldn't take The Complete Book of Elves into account since it's more of a masters resource for custom campaigns, detached from any specific setting.
There is a book specifically about Drow of the Forgotten Realms ("The Drow of the Underdark" TSR9326) by Ed Greenwood who is the author of the setting, and it sets a typical lifespan at 750 years (800-1000+ for powerful drow), with the signs of aging from 600 y.o.

The Community Update is one of the weirdest and most shizo things I read from a developer. The whole segment of cut content is just weird, esepcially concerning Act 3?

Okay, Upper city was cut long ago, yet Larian promoted it like three weeks before release? And questlines in current build still refer to Upper City?

Wtf Larian? Not a slamdunk.

One person on Steam said he or she was about to cry. Larian is just that good at "transparency" apparently.

was there cut content with kagha? I really felt like she would play some major role later on the way they set it up, perhaps with some evil druidic snek cult, would be cool

Just epilogue. As per the leaks it would have been a kingmaker/new vegas esque epilogue detailing how you altered the fate of characters and factions you interacted with, etc. Druid grove would be one of them.

I think they will get around it, at least for companions. Too many complaints from players and it must be too obvious even to them that the current ending is utter shite.

Good graces for having the first 60 hours of the game well polished and generally good is buying them a lot.
I personally think there is a fundamental flaw in the game's structure (not unlike DoS2 actually) and that cut content largely is more of a consequence of it rather than the underlying cause. That is why I don't believe there will be an explorable upper city in a potential definitive edition and I actually believe Larian when they said they cut it long ago (just because there is a couple quest in game files that still have traces leading there doesn't contradict it, it's pure datamining cope. And Larian hyping it in marketing also doesn't prove shit. Why would a developper that spent so many years developping a game that needs to sell a ton to be rentable not overhype their games?). More likely they will expand/revamp act3 to be more in line with the rest of the game, expand the level cap, rebalance the content to fit new caps, revamp/rewrite some of the quests i.e very similar to what they did to arx in DoS2.

Pissed me off. I was hoping for some folks calling Larian out for the Upper City PR, but everyone was "Yeah Justice for Karlach, queen bitch yass slaaaay!" Everyone.

Apparently they butchered bioware fan favorites viconia and sarevok
Character-wise I don't know, a lot can change about the motivations of a person in a hundred damn years, especially since it seems both characters got the unfavorable BG2 ending that doesn't redeem either of them, what I do know though is that neither of them sound like the original characters. Hearing Sarevok's new voice actor especially just putting on a gravelly Vin Diesel voice and not sounding anything like he did in the original games really sucks. Was it too expensive to get back the guy who did the original or did they just not bother?

Not sure about Viconia, but neo Sarevok makes no sense.

Even if you don't redeem him, he is supposed to be a half-alive shadow of his former self who abandons the bhaal shenanigans and goes off in search of glory/"feeling alive" again.

Now he is goon tier sub-boss loser running some trash underground bhaal cult. Pretty pathetic for someone who wanted to be a deity and nearly took over the sword coast.
