I think the story would have been far more sense if it had taken the original path and it's a shame Larian didn't choose that route.
I suppose it is likely the result of the speculation in the thread you linked, that nobody was using illithid powers because the original dream visitor was too sketchy and they needed to replace her to get people to engage with them.
To be honest, it's not really a surprise it's all over the place with how late the re-write seems to have taken place during the development.

I picked up dos2 for a higher discount than 75% on gog. And that was some time ago. Still haven't played it yet though.
This game and Cyberpunk are on my "80% or higher off" buy list. If it takes a few years, all good.

The joke is that Tuco has been complaining about the UI and chain control scheme in particular (even introduced the term "toilet-chain" in the process) both here, on Larian forums (at some point even got ban from some butthurt mod there) and God knows where else literally for YEARS
I made the UI a little more bearable with Better Hotbar 2:
and Better Cursor Text Panel:
I also added Visible Shields, Shield Bash Fix, Walk of Life (don't run everywhere like a sperg), and others.

Why tf does the UI feel like it doesn't register when you click on shit half the time??? Is there a mod for that???
How does that even happen, it's such a bizarre issue ... Like after playing for so many hours I've been trained to click the way the game wants me to, but... Why is this an issue???

Maybe some day I'll find the time and will to write it all down.
For what is worth, the overall opinion is decidedly more positive than negative and I rate the game highly... But holy fucking shit if some of the negatives don't feel like completely unnecessary fuck ups that wouldn't even have "costed more" to get right the first time.
In some cases probably even less (like the shitty camping system).
Means I can play it the first time after all fixes and enhancements have been made.
Besides, with how well this has done we might be seeing expansions for years to come.

I was going to wait for new content before a 2nd playthrough of this, but I have a hunch it is going to be a long wait. In fact I have a hunch we won't get any actual dlc, at least not as some people are expecting(no new quests, new areas, higher level cap or whatever).
How annoying it is to play this with a 3 man party? Most of the npcs are so cringe I was thinking of just avoiding them. Vampire fag and Shadow-waifu being some of the more tolerable from starting ones, with Jaheira and Minsc coming after surprisingly alright. I ignored Gale and Wyll first playthrough and hopefully didn't miss nice content. I doubt the content made up for having these two annoying faggots tagging along anyway. The Gith seemed like her character arc could go somewhere, but really didn't in the end.
Can you save bear fag and do his quest(with the wraith kid) and then send him packing? I was kind of forced on having him at camp for it on my first playthrough. If he dies on chapter one can you actually save the kid or at least put him out of his misery?

Oh good, I'm not the only one. I particularly find clicking on the UI portraits unusually unresponsive - and it's not even that much more responsive if you hit the function keys or the next/previous keys to select your wee guys either. I thought it was just my weak PC.

I've got the entire Pavelk set, really good QOL improvements as far as I'm concerned, and modular so you can tailor them to your liking too.

By the way, "Netherbrain" is one of the dumbest things I've heard in a game.
The association with Netheril and Shadow Magic is also wrong. At the time of the Empire the Shadow Weave didn't even exist.

I don't think that the term "Netherbrain" is any dumber than the rest of Forgotten Realms (https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Raggamoffyn).
What is stupid is the fagperor using it like it's an established part of the game world and not something he just made up.
