Is Alert worth taking as the first feat on all my party members for an Honour Mode run? I only had it on one or two pre-Honour Mode but I distinctly remember needing to reload for some of the ambushes in Act 2 and I feel like I may lose the will to live if I die to a random trash fight instead of a boss.

Yes it absolutely is. Best feat in the game. I skip it for my 18 dex characters but everyone else gets it. Mainly for the initiative order benefit, less so the surprise mechanic.

Man this game is so fucking mid. I would give it a 7/10 tops and i feel even that's generous. Sure it's got really good character models and art design, but it's basically just D:OS3 in a different-not-different skin.
The UI is fucking awful and unresponsive.
The RPG character builds are hilariously braindead.
The writing is "humorous".

What the fuck? How did it get so popular with normies?

The UI is unforgivably unresponsive and buggy. It's shockingly bad tbh. I don't understand how come no one seems to be talking about that.

Still, I'd be curious what recent RPGs you'd rank above it.
I would honestly rank every "high-profile" and recent (PoE 1 and later), non-Larian CRPG above BG3.
There's definitely things BG3 does better than each of those titles, but as a whole package, it's just mediocre to me.

Its certainly potent and a strong pick. I don't find it mandatory though. High Dexterity characters, Barbarians, Gloomstalkers and characters with Initiative boosting equipment can do without it IMO.

It's better to just ignore the Act 3 story and just enjoy wondering around the city and solve quests until you reach the endgame.
Funny, I reached the exact same conclusion. Still haven't finished the game btw.

BASED! Another great review from an oldschool codex member!
Read the above, and finish the upper city, you Belgian asshole!

The Emperor was patched in late to fix a problem with the original concept of the guardian (which wasn't supposed to be him in the earlier drafts). Unfortunately, adding him opened up a whole other mess of inconsistencies which perforate the timeline and make no sense if you actually try to piece things together.

Source? I'm curious about this.

Its obvious they wanted a Mindflayer Story but had to cram in Bhaal.
Again, even if the game is decent by itself, it wears the skin of a beloved series for clout.

Even as someone who really likes the game it was even more convoluted than that, it felt like they wanted a Mindflayer story *and* a Devil story, which in itself was a problem even without the inclusion of the Dead Three since seductive evil and body horror evil don't sit very well together unless you're a very talented writer (and when you're not you just end up with a topless mindflayer randomly trying to get in your pants).

Alert is a good feat -- and most other feats in the game just aren't very useful. You ought to take it at Level 4 or Level 8 on all characters, unless they have 18+ Dex.

Act 2 has the worst ambushes (the Githyanki patrol is brutal; that bridge ambush is easily one of the hardest fights in the game) but you should be Level 8 by the time you hit them. I'd suggest you avoid fighting the patrol until you're done with most or all of the rest of Act 2.

You couldn't choose a bigger shit. We're talking about a game here that has no redeeming features.
Only a moron would say that POE was somehow a good RPG. It was more enjoyable to play the bugged Kingsmaker around launch than PoE1.
Soon you will be defending the outer worlds.

Yeah, PoE better than BG3 is extreme fanboyism or trollbait. It falls behind in exploration, reactivity and combat. True, the writing in PoE is more down to earth, but the styles of both games fit and serve the setting and the players' expectations, so that's more a matter of preference.

It was written somewhere on the Larian forums by someone who had access to an early synopsis of the plot. I think it's probably among the spoilers on this thread:

Also, google search Daisy BG3 early access and you get this:

Sex sells and BG3 has a lot of it, also multiplayer
That a turn-based game with a (for mainstream standards) sort of deep ruleset is this popular with normies is potentially a good thing for the industry tho, maybe the button awesome corporate Bioware fucks can finally fuck off now

"Sex in BG3" is the good old bait and switch. Some ASMR shit in the brothel wasn't even funny. Mizora's scene is fucking ridiculous. Even the infamous bear scene is a joke, literally. They still sold it though.

Here seems to be a lot of info and speculations on this topic:

Kind of shame Larian changed its original vision. The game story would perhaps feel far less disjointed if they went trough with it.

Yup, scenes aren't even "soft porn" tier.
