Finally got around to play this. It's more of a Divinity OS game than a Baldur's Gate but I don't remember D:OS being so fucking boring in all aspects. Here is a quick review:
Negative aspects: Combat is a pain, made me wish there was a rtwp option, which is really a feat because rtwp is an abomination in my belief system. Manually rolling the goddamn die for every check even when it's obvious the RNG is rigged against you is a pain. Talking to retarded, moronic, useless companions and not having the option to create your own party is a pain, assholes in Larian should be banned from writing a single line of dialogue forever. It's even a pain to travel from one place to another, faggot ass Super Mario bullshit with jumping and climbing all over the place. Oh and level cap is 12 in a epic scale campaign dealing with world ending bullshit, lol.
Positive: Made me replay NWNs and Pathfinders, KotC2, you know games with properish DND rules instead of homosexual edition.

Any other AAA company would have put this subclasses as DLC.
This is 5e. Lv 12 in 5e is not the same of AD&D and 3.5e. Monsters lost a LOT of powerful abilities. Few intellect devourer can kill a mid level party in AD&D. They aren't a threat even at lv 1 in 5e.

I might mod out the level cap at some point, it infuriated me that I hit the cap pretty much as soon as Act 3 started. Shite design aimed at lazy casuals. It'll completely break the game, but it's a price worth paying.
You're disgustingly overpowered at lvl 10, even on Tactician. The cap is not the problem and it can't be solved by modding it out.
Also hitting lvl 12 right when Act 3 starts? Must've been scraping the bottom of the content barrel and then eating the barrel in A1 and A2. I was p. thorough and only hit the cap midway through A3.

In Dark Sun : Shattered Lands and Wake of the Ravager, you also get to lv cap very quickly and spend a huge chunk of the game at lv cap. Mainly if you didn't multiclassed.
Some people like to explore and try to find everything in the map. In my first run, I reached lv 7 at lv 1 with about 40% of the XP bar and have my save. However, there are people who got to lv 8 at act 1
But about the level cap, I would only consider removing a level cap IF I could also add the nasty abilities which monsters had in 2e and 3e back. Mindflayers aren't a threat to you in this game. I honestly don't like it.
