An issue is that a lot of people (even here, of all fucking places) were bitching about companions being mean to them during EA
I never played the EA to significant extent, but I can sympathize. It's not annoying they are mean, it's annoying when they use the same language, suspiciously sounding like MCU characters. I've seen enough of this shit in Deadfire already. I'm tired of Marvel dialogue infesting fantasy videogames.

There's this weird option to use a sneak attack as a type of attack, actively, by clicking on it. If you play a ranged character, pressing this button doesn't allow for other modals, magical arrows, spells, etc. to stack with it.
Initially, I was confused and disappointed as heck; my whole idea of an Ambush Ranger had withered.
Thankfully, it's all really just a confusion. Whilst just shooting from the Dredge Ambusher's modal, the sneak damage has been added automatically, as seen from the log.
Man, why is there such a button at all :D ?
Anyway, I hope I have cleared this out for others who might be interested in similar builds.
Main use for separate button stealth attack button- it will cancel the attack if stealth breaks right before you land it. Useful in real time stealth oneshots.

Holy sweet Jesus, give me strength. The camera is worse than Neverwinter Nights 2. I swear.

The camera is fine and nowhere near as bad as the utter fucking shitshow that was NWN2.

While true, that bar is set so low it has its own layer in the abyss.
just use Q and E to rotate and WASD to move, double click on a character’s portrait to lock on to him.

seems pretty straightforward to me. I’ve also seen the ability to activate edge panning in the settings.
It's not the camera controls that much, it's that the camera has trouble showing stuff. Sometimes you have to spin it around several times to be able to see anything, especially if it's a small room. And going up or down in elevation can also be a real pain. But the whole thing stems from that I can't play the game in the third-person mode, at least in exploration mode. Thanks to Larian not having WASD controls for the character. Way too clumsy without it.

Hmm, that could be the reason, but I can't say I relate, I have better stuff to do than wasting my time watching capeshit so I can't tell if there is an influence or not. The only Marvel movie I watched in the last 10, maybe 12 years is Black Adam (nephew wanted to, couldn't say no to the lil' guy) and I fell asleep 10 minutes into it.

FWIW, Shadowheart, Astarion and Lae'zel are supposed to be the mean guys and I haven't felt like they are aggressive in a cookiecutter fashion.

I already tried to refund this piece of shit but I've played more than 2 hours at that point. This is the last game I will buy from Larian.
Just had to see that bear sex scene, didn't you? :M

I would give it more of a chance, if I were you. There's some enjoyment to be had here for anyone, given the depth of the choices and consequences. You do you though.

That said, I don't blame you for never buying any Larian game after they bowed to ESG this much.
What is this ESG bullshit talk, this has almost ZERO impact on Larian since they're not a publicly traded company.
So you're saying the gay woke shit wasn't done out of necessity. Got it.
Done because of marketing reasons. The gaming press is woke as fck, like it or not, gives some extra (woke) points. But it's not done for the ESG score since that's not applicable to Larian.

And like everyone said many times you can avoid all the woke shit anyway and kill anyone you don't like.

The only thing I don't like is the character creation woke shit like pronouns.

That’s because you passed perception check, he puts a dagger to your throat if you fail it.
In effect, Astarion's chance to survive hangs on a d20 perception check. Assuming my character doesn't decide to kill him simply for being a vampire spawn.

I fully subscribe to this, but in my case watching Guardians of the Galaxy and subsequent trailers of capeshit has been enough to get me familiarized with the style. Now I get an allergic reaction whenever I see it.

Act 3 has a ton of stuff to do, but I think there's also quite a few bugs to be found here, like for some reason when you finish up a quest and you're supposed to go and meet someone to get your reward or whatever, but then the NPCs just aren't there, no matter if you reload.

Anyway, has anyone else here finished the game as of yet? I kind of rushed ahead just to see the reveal and possible endings and I absolutely plan on playing as Dark Urge for my next playthrough.

Here's some of my favorite screenshots so far that contain spoilers, so you have been warned:

And has
anyone else been surprised by the fact that Orin is Sarevok's daughter?

Also,
I love how you find the corpse of Dark Urge in Orin's quarters and it's just marked as "fallen Bhaalspawn".

This might come off as incredibly stupid, but how do you activate rage on Karlach? I can't seem to find an ability called that. Is it Frenzy? However, on that skill, it says Frenzy turns your rage into something else. I don't even know how to see how many "rages" she got left.

Frenzy replaces rage, since it’s just a better version of it. It’s Berserk subclass unique ability.

Really fun too, you can do tons of damage by throwing one enemy into the other with enraged throw.

Clicking that button will warn you if you don't fulfill the Sneak Attack criteria and possibly save you from wasting an action on a non-sneak attack.

How has it not popped in this thread yet how every single aspect of this game is designed for a twenty seconds attention span player ?
It's not a problem, nor a flaw per se, but I can't help but notice how every book is two (ingame) pages long. Some of them even read like "hmmm to put it shortly errrr" and feels like whoever wrote them had, at some point, to recompile his already short text into a ridiculously superficial three paragraphs nothing.

Level up screen purposefully does away with any sort of class progression information. Even if you wanted to ponder your options on the next ten levels, you wouldn't be able to.

Everytime an event occurs, it just aggressively pops on your screen, cutting everything else you were doing. It, more often than not, features npcs that yell, scream, bounce around and spew out the most out of place stuff they could come up with.
The few npcs that don't indulge in attention whoring either talk in sybilline formulas or transform into a bear, a devil, a chair, a sex scene - you name it.

This game is constantly fighting for your attention.
It comes off as an insecure theatre play, where comedians double down on the energy to make up for their fear of the void.
It reminded me of a short time I spent at the pediatric service of the hospital, as a kid, and volunteer clowns were rushing through the thousand of toys in their bag to make our day. God bless them.

Other than being the 2023 embodiment of a themepark, built around such an inamovible principle of constant distraction that Skyrim itself would be considered a contemplative piece in comparison, it's a good immersive sim light à la DOS2, a bit less cluttered in every department (level design, writing, gameplay, UI).
It's probably goty, depends on Shadow of the Erdtree I guess.

So you're saying the gay woke shit wasn't done out of necessity. Got it.
It was was barely even done at all. It's essentially zero effort to just not make romances sex-restricted and make them "playersexual". It's basically zero effort to decouple pronouns and voice from "body type". It costs almost nothing but it buys you:
  • favourable coverage from the woke press
  • not having romance tards complain about not being able to romance X
  • not having fags and trannies screech about erasure on social media
  • not having asshole employees write negative Glassdoor reviews about the company not being gay/trans friendly
This isn't "woke", it's minimum effort shit that shields you against criticism from a particulary loud minority, both on social media, the press and probably from toxic underlings in your own company.

"Woke" is shit like in DA:I, where you have an entire major questline devoted to a particular faggy looking homo whose terrrible father tried to cure his faggotry with blood magic and oh the drama of it all. "Woke" is retconning the Asari in ME:A from all-female to non-binary. "Woke" is the game giving you a lecture on trangenderism and retconning the Qunari in the process of it, again in DA:I.

BG3 doesn't really push any of this shit on you, it merely gives options, which is just course for the par in current year. If everything is woke, then nothing is woke. So simmer down, retards.

If you like to collect companions like Pokemons there IS a way to get Halsin and Minthara both which you should NOT be able to do by 'tricking' the game a bit. Its super convoluted and a minor pain in the ass but it can be done. There is a plebbit post about it. You can also get Minthara in Act 2 even if you fuck her over and don't help her in Act 1, again, with some minor planning and leaving part of an Act 1 quest unfinished. I hate to mention Reddit in a positive light but these were really useful tips.

I did not manage to get both of them but I did get Minthara after basically screwing her over in Act 1. If you pick her up in Act 1 half your party bails which kinda sucks. You will lose Halsin, Wyll, Gale, and possibly a few more too. It's like the "Dark Jedi" path in KOTOR. I highly advise keeping your options open and saving her for the beginning of Act 2. Many more branches of potential plot-arcs that way.

EDIT- Glad I did this because I find her to be the most compelling, well-written, and well voice acted of the companions by a large margin. She isn't over the top, super aggressive, but has this very clear set of goals and acts in a realistic way for who and what she is.

You've chosen a subclass with Frenzy maybe? https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/barbarian

Pro-Tip #2: If you want the Dragon Age Rip-Off version of Shadowheart and want to turn her into a Morrigan clone with the ridiculously low cut shirt, leather hot pants, etc. You simply need to click the button in the upper right of you inventory that toggles "Street" clothes on / off. She comes out looking much better IMHO. And it isn't just in camp, functions in battle and cutscenes too.
