As per usual, the game thread spends more time discussing beastiality than beast mastery, so here's the place to discuss builds, helpful gameplay tips and assorted gameplay related topics.

Start by learning all the shit Larian has changed from 5e. I can only conclude from these changes that the devs plays casters.

Solasta was a more faithful adaptation of the rules, but I figure it won't be remembered, by the vast majority of players, as a better crpg than BG3.
Solasta has just the core set of rules everything else was gloriously bad.

Kem0sabe, you should have waited until the game is actually released before posting this thread. It's only going to get filled with off-topic shit until then, and likely even after.

Correct me if I am wrong, but 5E shares spell slots across all classes. With Larian allowing access to spell tiers based on total caster level, rather than class level, multiclassing spellcasters as much as possible seems optimal. This leads to some weird interactions.

If your character is a sorcerer, then if they dip into Wizard, can they now scribe spells of all levels they have access to? What ability score would be used? Can a cleric do the same?

that was only based on 1 italian interview so no idea yet how multiclassing spell progression is done
hope they don't go full retard with it otherwise all casters dip into each caster class (3 levels into sorcerer for "free" metamagic) and takes all joy out of figuring out good builds

Wizards can scribe divine scrolls? Multiclass into any other caster class and your total level determines the spell level you can learn/cast?

I'm going to play a straight fighter the whole way in this game out of fucking principle.

nice and big, for your dreams
On a more serious note i think is safe to say that this thread will be very useful after the release.

As for solasta: *Shivers* i tried i played it for some hours. The core rules are good to see. But artstyle, encounter design, writing, dialogues even the setting was really bad.

i finished the main campaign not long after release, the voice acting was what i couldn't deal with so i shut them the fuck up and rolled with captions. i just stared at everything else but the 'faces' during cutscenes lol. i have the first three dlc, but i just wasn't feeling the lost valley campaign.

not sure about divine scrolls but think it got removed
and multiclassing spell progression (for example 6wizard 6 cleric) can it cast 6th level spells is not sure yet based on interview thats the case but I would be doubtful they do something that silly

also Crispy was right for once go spam other thread with shitposts please no need to ruin every thread

The 1st one was fixed, the second one is highly unlikely because that odd interview aside they have only said they removed the ability requirements for multiclassing which implies the rest works as usual in 5e.

Methinks there's going to be a bit of butthurt from people who wanted to try a little bit of everything but ended with an useless build. D&D post AD&D was a mistake. But I can't hate D&D at the same time. It's been there all this time, you know...

A guide "How to avoid all romances" could be bery useful and appreciated.
I have no interest in it either, it occupies the same space in my brain as player housing in MMOs in as much as I can never understand why it's absence it's such an enormous deal-breaker in the eyes of some - if I wanted to play interior decorator I'd get the paint out the shed and repaint the fucking dining room like I've been promising for months.
