That's weird, I remember BG2 scaling encounters but not BG1. And I also recently cleaned the Gnoll Fortress and there were many more gnolls than merely 5.
kobolds chillaxing with their skeleton bros and they attack you (there is now some kobold and skeleton alliance or something)?

Sure about Kobolds? There were gnolls and skeletons mixed in the Thalantyr area.

yeah BGT...i have been noticing like 1 gibberling instead of the usual swarms in random wilderness areas, less enemies in general. I boosted my XP (and thus char level) to 89000 to see if tougher and more numerous critters would spawn like in BG2 but nope, same shit <_<

considering I have SCS and SCS2 (with all the improved AI and tactical encounters) i might just have to leave my XP at 89000 just to break even with the 161000 BGTotSC xp mark or otherwise the now OP wizards and assassins out to kill me would utterly destroy an xp and gold starved legit character.

TuTu may have too large and too dangerous spawns, but as an experienced player I much prefer that to too small and pathetic spawns. IIRC TuTu also comes with an option to radnomize the spawns more.

EDIT: now that I think about it, I seem to recall there being trouble with using the BG2 spawn system in BG1, and the developers were never totally satisfied with the end result.

I found playing solo makes respawn broken: only pathetic number of foes (IIRC never more than 3-4 mobs) - and low level single hero must face only one gibbering, gnoll, dragon etc.

There's a BGT-Spawn mod that allows you to customize the spawns further. With that, I've been satisfied - plenty of Gnolls in Gnoll stronghold, an army of goblins guarding Firewine Bridge and so on. No weird alliances, except for the canines and that's acceptable to me.

The wands of monster summoning have no actual limitations, you can summon an ARMY of monsters to your command, and this is how every single dude who played BG1 defeated Drizzt, by drowning him in a wall of monsters while the party hit him with their bows.
Eh, no, that's not how everyone did it. You don't need a wand of monster summoning for this. I used a potion of invisibility when I first thought about how to do it, and no, you cannot fight while invisible because of such a potion.

Because BG is one of the most primitive game I have ever played as far as the mechanics of the basic classes like fighters can be. Fighters don't actually have any ability, skill, anything other than "click it, kill it".
 I guess you cannot into RPGs.

From an old thread:

BGT spawns
  • spawns have fixed strength
  • many spawns mix creature types
  • repopulated after 1 day

tutu spawns

  • spawns have strength based on party size and levels
  • spawns are of single creature type
  • repopulated after 1 day

easytutu spawns
  • same as tutu
  • same as tutu
  • Allows to set a % of the spawn points to be randomly picked and disabled. Allows to set time in days until the spawn points get repopulated or disable respawning altogether.

So if you want non-leveled spawns you want BGT style. The downside is that the mixing of creatures sometimes spawns stuff that don't really fits together.

Vanilla BG1 = closer to tutu (single creature type and scaled).

BGT is shit. I tried playing BG1 with it once. It fucks up the balance bad and is buggy as fuck. Actually I didn't manage to complete BG1 because BGT broke some scripts and made 1 area impossible to complete.
Obviously savegames were already corrupt when I got there.

Fuck that shit. Just play BG1 with widescreen mod. Then import your char into BG2 if you absolutely want that shit (iirc it was possible)

Playing BG2 with widescreen, fixpack and 2 or 3 unfinished business restorations (incl. the Crane Inn). Installed at random. So far so good except there was no kobold shaman in teh sewers and I had to cheat-add shaman's staff.

Also used LVL1 NPCs mod to make Nalia a Thief instead of shitty Thief/Mage combo that is worse than Imoen.
The game needs a proper thief that doesn't die mid-game due to plot arghhh

How many years ago did you try it though? It's pretty stable now at least for me. But I do agree BG > BGT. However if you listed the pro's and con's of both, BGT would win out. And that fucking fucking fucking horrible shit pathfinding in BG is just fucking rage inducing. It is marginally better in the BG II engine.

Ugh Gibberlings 3 is down and I need the Icewind Dale Fix Pack version 5. Version 4 has a bug that made the Revenants in the crypt in trial of the Luremaster invincible :( It's apparently fixed in 5.

Sword Coast Strategems requires TuTu or BGT. No matter how much TuTu or BGT may ruin pure vanilla BG1, it is insignificant compared to how much SCS improves the game.

Agreed. That is the single best PRO of BGT. If skyway actually tried that he would change his mind.
