G3 is still dead and their emergency mirror isn't up-to-date. Does anyone have the following files or knows where they could be found?

...

Cheers
Everything you need : http://kerzenburg.baldurs-gate.eu/bwpmods.php
Big World is an install that makes more than 300 mods (all the most famous are in) working without crashing (by adding some patch in the install to make everything ok).
But of course you don't have to install all those mods, only the one you want.
More info here : http://kerzenburg.baldurs-gate.eu/files/BiG World v11 english-11.2.1.pdf
Edit : i have used it to install about 30/40 mods, only got one very minor bug until now, astounding IMHO.

Man after reading the Big World PDF, I've been installing mods incorrectly for years. heh. That whole batch program + just install the mods you want to use == PURE AWESOME. No more possibly bad installs. I sure wish people would have fucking told me this sooner.

It looks super handy but when I went to use it a week or so ago, it was unable to download about half the stuff I wanted and all I was installing was BGT with fix packs and the UB's, some tweaks and the UI mods. :(

Check your firewall or Peerblock if you have it, it might be blocking most downloads done through the setup program. There shouldn't be that many mods that are down (I had to manually download maybe 4-5 from other sites when I installed it and I threw pretty much everything in). Unless they were all hosted on G3 that is, it wasn't down yet when I did it so I have no idea how many would be down right now.

Anyway, if you have a list of the mods you're missing, I can upload them for you if you still need it.

Never mind. The Big World is yet another shitty bugged pieces of shit fan mod that won't install correctly.

First it cant find the directory Baldur's Gate in the BGII - SoA directory even though it exists there. Then you have to type in the path there, and then when it runs the "patch.exe" it hangs.

If this ever gets out of alpha testing and actually works let me know.

Are you using the BiG World Setup program with the GUI and all, or the .bat one?

The .bat file. Does the GUI version fix all these bugs?

You glorious stupid gay bastard. Besides the fact that people have been talking up the BiG World Project for years on this forum, the fact that you cannot manage to install it correctly tells us something about the homosexual mind.

Anyway the problem with the BWP is that there are too many options. You have to show real restraint when installing or you end up with a bunch of shitty mods that change waaaaaaaay to much. Just install the basics (SCSI/II, Fix packs, some G3 mods, Saerileth and the animation mods) and you are good to go. It is literally almost idiot proof. Almost.

OK the .bat program does require some effort. The new GUI installer is much more plebeian based.

I have no idea what the specific differences are, but it worked just fine for me (the GUI tells you very clearly which mods have dependencies on which mods, which mods clash with each other etc.), apart from something I complained about earlier in the thread (which turned out to be a Windows 7 problem with permissions or something) so I'd recommend that. I did an install over the GOG version which is apparently patched to the proper patch version for it.

Also, I just found a G3 mirror if anyone needs it for the missing mods.

I am using the default English GOG installs. Of note he specifies that Baldurs Gate be specifically named Baldur's Gate (the GOG install names it Baldurs Gate) and also never says to copy this directory into the BGII - SoA directory (which also needs to be renamed from the GOG EN install). I assume he is possibly reading the registry but forgot to mention this?

I guess I can just follow his instructions of manual install (which IS very well documented). Except I cant patch any of them because that hangs. Though I think I can manually do that as well.

With the GUI you just select the directories manually wherever you've installed them and it does everything else automatically.

The Big World install process works very well, it's absolutely not buggy.
I personally have done a manual install (i didn't use The Big World Install, only The Big World Fixpatch who makes some minor modification to make everything running fine).
A manual install takes much more time (took me 2 full days to learn the process, fine tune everything and doing the install) but you get exactly what you want and you know what you have.
So RTFM because it works (and i have a gog instal).
Now the manual is 300 page long, good luck :)

Seriously really...

Make sure you have the latest version of the GUI (vbs) BWS. My first attempt with it was a disaster because I was using some sort of alpha/beta version. It should detect your BG and BG2 installation paths automatically - you don't need to change any directory names, that's only with the .bat file.

If/when it complains about being unable to download mods, just (r)etry. As long as your firewall is letting it through, two attempts should be enough to get 99% of mods - unless something drastic happens like this G3 being shut down by the host.

Also, I just found a G3 mirror if anyone needs it for the missing mods.
It's unfortunately out-of-date for many mods - but for the ones that are "done, it's great.

I did a full install with everything ever recently, here you go, hope I didn't miss anything.

There's so many shitty old links for the big world setup floating around. Make sure you are getting the latest version here:

http://kerzenburg.baldurs-gate.eu/downloads.php?id=2

It can also get really confusing because in addition to big world setup there is big world textpack, fixpack, trimpack, installpack, fudgepack, etc. All of that is handled by BWS, ignore it.

Man, I can be such a clueless moron sometimes. I got BWS running today and left it alone. Checked it an hour later, it had encountered an error while installing BGT, so I chose (r)etry. No go, an hour later it had the same message up. Maybe it's a script issue and reboot will help? Did that - good thing that bws.vbs knows to continue from where it was interrupted. Went to the grocery store, came back, again failed to install BGT. The topmost error is that some text string is not found. I'm losing my cool here, fucking piece of shit program - then I scroll up the log to see if there's any other hints and vóila - there was no text string to be found BECAUSE i HAD RAN OUT OF HD-SPACE during BGT installation which was then interrupted. Turns out I only had about ~½ gig free HD-space when I started the damn thing and it needs more, temporarily, during the installation phase.

So I deleted some shit I had lying around, freed up 7 gigs and now it's been running smoothly ever since. Facepalm, headdesk and all that.

*LOL* but also *pat on the back*

When you're used to looking for complicated problems, the simple ones slip by. ;)

Finally trying out BGSpawn. FINALLY a spawn system that is not fucking retarded for BGT (at least so far).

It seems this are more a OMG LET'S MAKE IT MORE CHALLENGING AND GIVE THE PLAYER FUCKING SHITLOAD OF XP! At this rate, I'll be Level 20 by the time I reach Saerevok. I fucking give up.

EDIT: Also Item Revisions + SCS == AWESOME.

Try also Spell Revisions, it's even more polished than IR, which is not even made exactly for the BG1 part.

This mod kicks ass: http://www.gibberlings3.net/item_rand/

Item Randomiser

Overview
Item Randomiser is a large-scale random treasure mod for Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II. It is available for EasyTutu, Baldur's Gate Trilogy, Baldur's Gate II and is partially available for Baldur's Gate.

It still need a bit of tweaking but Highly recommended.
Sure, you're right. And Item Randomiser is great, although i would recommend Item Revisions and Spell Revisions together with SCS/2.

You realize that you just replied to the same person with the same advice? And calling SR "polished" is just outright lying. You need a new gig.

In G3 mods that just links to the gibberlings site. Does anyone have SCS v21 or thereabouts that they could upload? Man, we better start saving these things before G3 dies completely.

I've got a bunch of mods on my external HDD but it's been a while and I have SCS v6.
