It's a +3 Two-Handed Sword you get in Durlag's Tower from the King after you kill him in the "Chess" game...Varscona is simply the best longsword in the game. Maybe the flaming sword (from Durlag's Tower) is a bit better, I don't remember stats.
Nope... I meant 1-handed longsword, not 2-handed (yet +3 2Hsword and Spiders Bane are the two best 2h swords IIRC).It's a +3 Two-Handed Sword you get in Durlag's Tower from the King after you kill him in the "Chess" game...Varscona is simply the best longsword in the game. Great weapon, but cannot use a shield with it.
Ignore them, and install thisSo, are Weimer mods totally outdated by now?
Should I skip the tactics mod and only use Sword Coast Stratagems (II)?
Perhaps still adding Underrepresented Items, and that sort of stuff?
With the EE I can expect a smoother experience with all those intense, AI-enhanced areas, is this really confirmed?
If so I might just go ahead and get it from Gog, despite everything...
I could just ignore the new NPCs and stuff, after all.
The writing is outrageous, the graphics are bad (I mean locations) and the story is fucking bad. Yet some encounters are quite decent (I mean storming that fort or smth - hard fight after hard fight without resting; pretty nice).and don't play Siege of Dragonspear. It's absolute shit for people who roleplay, and changes the personality of some companions.
The game still looks worse than the original, imo.The EE for BG2 is fine. Most of the issues of the EE
- New bugs introduced in the EE itself
- Horrible UI
- Questionable new content
- shoving BG2 Engine inside of every EE game
Point 1 has been fixed by the EE creators themselves.
Points 2 and 3 have been fixed by mods
Points 4 only applies to IWD1EE and BG1EE
It's far easier and more convenient to install the 2 to 3 mods to remove the bad stuff, and have the ability to zoom and quickloot, then install 10+ mods on the vanilla BG2 game to have similar QoL features and BugFixes.
If you already own it go with EE. If you're not interested in the questionable new characters install the NoEENPCs mod d1r linked above.
It fixes this. Works like a charm. Not sure if any mods or tools can do the same for the vanilla engine.I really did have lots of slowdowns with my then-heavily-scripted setup.
You can diseable this in the options menu. And lets not forget that black void of nothingness on every map border.
I played both BG1&2 EE last year in October and NovemberI'm sorry guys should have clarified that I only mean to play BG II again.
I really did have lots of slowdowns with my then-heavily-scripted setup.
That's why I'm considering the EE, if it's true that the engine is more capable.
https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/83508/mod-classic-bg-ui-v1-6If you remove all the shit Beamdog created the EE are workable. You need to restore the original cinematics in BG1, get rid of all the new NPCs etc. I wish there was a way to restore the original UI but nobody ever made a mod for that. BG2 came close nothing for BG1.

Hey, pssst, kid. Wanna use bigger fonts? I made the best mod for that http://www.shsforums.net/topic/56710-bigger-fonts-for-baldurs-gate/Well folks it's "officially" on, since I've started to search for and download mods.
Just read the readmes as you install. It's a fun read, actually.Micromanaging sub-components is going to be tiresome....
