I just hope they re-release the originals on PC with bug fixes, and amiga graphics.

And a bit unusual not to start with a list of stretch-goals ain't it?..
Maybe it is nowadays but I've never been a fan of it. Have them ready, certainly, but why show them at launch? More fun to roll them out at appropriate time.

What about them disks? Will they be there in the physical tiers? I mean, I understand if you don't want to print them from the start if the development process would be like the one of W2, but do you plan on doing them later?

Combat is resolved in a phase-based manner, meaning your entire party takes its turn, and then all enemies take theirs. In the original trilogy, you’d make all of the decisions at once and only then see the results. For The Bard’s Tale IV, we want a more dynamic experience: as soon as you decide what a character will do, they immediately act.

They say the new system is: your entire party actions are executed first, and then the entire enemy actions are executed second
They say the old system is: you make all actions at once, and then enemy actions happen at once

:philosoraptor: Isn't this the exact same?

Almost 100k already, I'm very surprised. Fargo knows how to hype.
That shouldn't come at a surprise at this point.

100k in less than half an hour is indeed impressive.

Honestly, I don't think the video is even any good. It had way less engine-based graphics whoring than I was expecting.

Both PoE and Planetscape NumaNuma saw large spikes in pledges/traffic a few days in the campaign by unveiling some screenshots and stuff. I imagine they're going for the same thing. There will be a rush of "first look at Kickstarter-darling Bard's Tale 4 is already here" articles before the end of the week, making sure not all the hype is spent on the first day. Or at least I hope that's what they're doing, since Fargo spoke about graphics quite a bit.

Unless you fucked up, you'll get high traffic and number of pledges early and late. The big time kickstarter runners seem to be focused on trying to keep people engaged during the middle section.

Yeah, but it seems like Kickstarters can't change the video after launching. I guess that doesn't really matter if you have direct access to gaming press who will spread your news, but if I was a nobody it would concern me if my pitch video was shit but I had a lot of more flashy stuff buried in updates no one notices.

Actually, you can change the pitch video. The Underworld guys did that for instance (although the change wasn't huge).

Don't currently see that inXile will feel that much of a need for it, though!

The large scale tier rewards seem kind of 'meh' from a Codex 'lulzy' point of view. What would we do? Tavern npc?

Puzzle Master seems like a tier better suited for 'lulz', if that's your goal. Lots of possibilities: FATE unlock code, equipping the ring, Grimoire references...

Just let Cleve design it. Bard's Tale 4 will be delayed ten years.

More 'fun'? More strategical.

Fargo didn't know where the momentum would come to a halt, so if he had put a few stretch goals at say 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 mil, and then woke up to find that the campaign is at 2.0 mil, they would've been useless.

He wants to actually use the stretch goals to milk people, to push them into giving more. He'll unveil the stretch goals when the money stops flowing in, which should be around the 3d day.

I can't take this fucking guy seriously anymore.

I completely agree! I mean, its not like he lead the company responsible for several classic D&D franchises, let Tim Cain develop his own engine to create the monster known as Fallout (a game, btw, which Fargo named and saved from being cancelled several times) and is now trying to bring back a forgotten style of RPG to the masses.

Oh wait. He is. *insert sarcastic smiley here*.

I think it's more because I'm allergic to shit advertising and WL2 was bland.
I wonder how much trust you would put into Riddley Scott's attempt to revive a classic film series, say Godfather. He certainly made Blade Runner so all should be fine, huh?

How much longer it takes depends on when they post the first update. And it is only day 2. Barely more than 24hrs.

Ok 2 days, but why does it depend on the update?

Well if the update is published on day three it'll boost pledges on day three. If published on day five, it won't ;)
