From a gamey perspective I don't see how the other starts can ever top the advantage of having 50% more men on the field(and a bigger reserve to boot).
Because you won't get bullied on forums for playing the shit eating peasants start.

I will personally laugh at anyone who chooses to lead a bunch of glorified turnip pickers.

Seriously tho like, why would the starts need to be bAlaNcEd ? The game already has difficulty sliders, what's the deal with a couple more that have some extra flavour on top?

Sounds like an awful, awful mod,
t. absolutely clueless

it has that spirit of insane megalomania with no restraint that can only truly be felt in the modding scene

it's the next level of the art which is videogames

pure annihilating passion that consumes you with no regard for banal things like quality optimization or like a streamlined enjoyable experience

I'm still on whatever the last version was before they changed Alps - is it worth updating, or should I just leave it till the new DLC comes out? I hear their new iteration is much worse the old one (which was already pretty naff).

Also had what was probably the most fun campaign loss I've experienced so far - Noble War had just started as my second crisis after the Greenskin Invasion, and I took a 'Help us siege our enemy house' contract to get my feet wet. Except I didn't realise that travelling at night along enemy roads was a dumb move, and ended up getting attacked by a full company of 28 soldiers. Couldn't escape because of the fucking dogs (no man gets left behind) so I decided to go down fighting, but somehow, miraculously, I won. My crossbow companion had already used both his quivers of bolts and was down to relying on a pike, but a lucky swing took out their third-to-last-guy and the other two ran for it, leaving just crossbow companion and my sergeant still standing on the field, probably one hit from death each.

It was an utterly pyrrhic victory - I lost so many men that were was no way I could continue on - but it was a pretty satisfying ending in that the company's last battle was a narrow win against overwhelming odds.

Up to 27 mercs mod with 100 enemies in a battle must be real fun to play...
1) First turn
2) Morning routine and breakfast
3) Second turn (if you're a slow eater)
4) Go to work
5) Return from work
6) Third turn
7) Go to the gym
8) Come back from the gym
9) Fourth turn, maybe
10 Prepare and eat dinner, put the kids to bed, look longingly at wife only to be ignored (she won't sleep with a no-life loser who plays videogames all day).
11) Fifth turn?

Or, if your guys' initiative values vary too much, then just speed up 50x in cheatengine like noted Pro-BB player Sarissofoi
Your wife will still ignore you, though (she won't sleep with a cheater).

During the noble war end game crisis I intentionally triggered a couple groups of enemies and got my 12 against 75 opponents take less time than you think to resolve.

I decided to play something relaxing while waiting for new expansion so installed 18 bros mod, veteran perks mod and level all stats mod. Removed battle sisters mod.

There is like 1 decent face - from old Paul's drawing. All others are just not fit for bodies.

Yeah, it does sound like that mod will throw balance out of the window.

I like the new starts but we need more info. It seems like balancing it out will be a challenge. The militia start, for instance, seems greatly overpowered. I think most players already mostly used lower tier backgrounds(specially with the new salary mechanics). From a gamey perspective I don't see how the other starts can ever top the advantage of having 50% more men on the field(and a bigger reserve to boot).
This game doesn't need perfect balance, no single player game does.
What it does need is alternatives and more interesting things going on to keep your interest after one or two playthroughs.

That said, yeah 100-unit battles in a turn-based game is ridiculous even on highest speed settings.

I'm really failing to see the point of the new automatic retreat feature. It's almost as slow as doing it manually, and the utterly retarded AI does it best to lose ground to enemies for no reason whatsoever, so that I end up with losses that would have been entirely avoidable by doing it manually.

P.S. Is there any mod for autopausing when enemies are in sight?

What is up with all the mods showing up all of a sudden? Did the the devs open up the code(or part of it) for some folks?

Some guy this guy cracked their encryption.

I don't think that's really anything particularly cool or benevolent on their part though so much as just a lack of stupidity. They've seen other devs, big and small, ruin their fans' goodwill by reacting to mods and fangames and similar things like kids throwing a tantrum. Overhype are smart enough to see that their best way forward - now that the genie is out of the bottle - is to play along, and that's great. But personally I have more kudos to give to the devs who don't do their damndest to prevent mods in the first place than I do for these guys throwing up their hands and saying 'Oh well, you win'.

Whole situation was silly as fuck if you think about it.
They resisted mods like incoming Red Army and what happened when some godly autist broke the code?
NOTHING really.
Nothing for the worse. I do not really see how they can be hurt by it.

Yeah, but you know. Some folks can mod into DLC content, but at the same time nexus usually kills those types of mods. But then again pirated versions usually come with full DLC package. Oh well.
