Ghosts... One melee hit and they're gone, you just have to wait and to flank them, ever heard of fencers?
Geists are always protected by swarms of wieders, so main problem is reaching them. Even fencers ofen cannot reach them due to press of bodies so whips with their 3 range is godsent.

My last 3+ runs were Magic Trio from Magic origins.
1. Use your Elementalist, wait and prepare an elemental storm on the first turn, throw it on the enemy frontline on the second.
2. Profit, whatever was behind is now reachable, it also kills gheist if they're in the aoe...

I'd use Berserker origin the most if not for magic origins, but the Berserker is overpowered.
So, it's still fun but not as much as having squishy main characters you have to protect.

2 handed flail are actually really strong. It nullifies all the high melee defense enemies in game, undead skeles, goblins, and particularly human mercs nobles. No making your 90 melee bro waste 2-3 rounds missing bottlenecking your team from routing the enemy before their numbers advantage goes in their favor.
The bonus doesn't matter much for high M Att endgame Bros. And because of the terrible damage with wide spread and splitting the hits more often between head and body you'll need more successful attacks to finish off an enemy.

I didn't remember that the chance when shooting was1 and not 5. I probably should play it again, perhaps try the Legends mod.

The fun thing is, dogs are decent against geists. Their low damage is irrelevant and they have multiple attacks albeit at low %. And if they get targeted by a geist it is less dangerous for you than a bros. Doggies against ghosts!

Against Geists firing a bow at maximum range can be good too, because while the chance to hit is ridiculously low a successful attack ought to be enough to kill it and you get two attacks per turn.

All the enemies they made to use against are squishy and have morale issues. 90 melee bros have like 60s hit chance against enemies with shield there nothing more frustrating wasting 3-4 rounds on a dumb footman with a shield. Not all bros going to be 110 melee sword masters.

Even early the flail you get from fighting bandit raiders that most people sell will steam roll you through early game fighting raiders and goblins if you put them on decent melee bros. they complete trash against orcs tho.

But this is the point. Flails can be very good against some selected types of enemies - but those aren't endgame enemies. Against brigands/raiders* they sure are very good but those enemies aren't the ones you struggle against late game.

*Those are idiots, how can one think that going into dangerous fight without a helmet is a good idea? And a good portion of them do exactly that. The desert-nigger ones are fore some reason smarter. I wish there were some game that attempt do do such things systematically. For example a very low INT or WIS enemy could "forget" an important item to battle (think ogres in warhammer fantasy). But it wouldn't work in a predetermined way using static enemy/loot tables but as an independent game system.

Dev Blog #145: The Anatomists

Living in the world of Battle Brothers is no picnic. Between nobles for whom you are nothing but a chess piece in their great game, beasts that want to eat you alive, and necromancers that want to raise your corpse once you’re dead, how does one make sense of it all? The free ‘Of Flesh and Faith’ DLC coming to Battle Brothers on March 10th introduces two very different paths that promise salvation from this mortal coil, manifested in two new origins to play your campaign with. This week we’re dissecting the first of these, the ‘flesh’ in ‘Of Flesh and Faith’, the Anatomists. Let’s look inside!

The Anatomists
Anatomists are a group of researchers whose unquenchable thirst for knowledge trumps their sense for decency and their need for social acceptance. Shunned for disturbing the peace of the dead to advance the bounds of scientific knowledge, they’ve been mistaken for necromancers more than once. Theirs is a path to become more than mere men, to conquer life with knowledge about the flesh, paved with the dissection of the fallen. With about all there is to be learned from disassembly of the human body already learned, they now look to you to provide them with new and exotic specimens. Imagine what wondrous insights the study of greenskins could yield! Oh, and a great Lindwurm, imagine what secrets lie but waiting to be discovered behind their scales!

This intellectual bunch starts with three men of modest talent, but with high starting funds and unique equipment of their own. Because they’re really not fighters, but thinkers, they can never be quite confident going into battle. However, the very first time they manage to kill a specimen of any non-human opponent in the game, they’ll dissect the corpse and create one potion unique to that type of opponent. This potion can be imbibed by any of your men to permanently mutate their body in a somewhat painful process potentially involving the violent discharge of bodily fluids in order to gain special effects. If you’re aware of The Witcher, you should have a pretty good idea of how these mutations work.

Because defeating any type of opponent for the first time grants you a potion with its very own special effect, the Anatomists have a lot of incentive to hunt down each and every type of opponent in the game – and sometimes as soon as they are able to. To aid you in this, the Anatomists also have access to four different ledgers where they make notes of any opponents already dissected. These are for beasts, greenskins, the undead, and legendary creatures – the latter allowing for potions with particularly powerful effects. Evolving your body by unnatural means is an exceptional affair, which is why it is accompanied by a bunch of new events that tell about the experience. And because a unique origin like the Anatomists should do their tainted business in style, they can also hoist an entirely new and appropriately creepy player banner for their company.

However minor this "free dlc" might be, it does seems to be cool enough to warrant a new playthrough.

Thanked be the devs. I would not mind paying for a larger dlc though. Hopefully they will release a "supporter edition" as previously done.

Seems these potions are one off permanent bonuses. Will be cool planning your uberbro builds.

Thematically this seems like the coolest origin. Makes more sense than the "beast slayer" origin for sure.
