Ahhh i played a few hours and....well the gameplay is shit but the story, writing and the cinematics are cool. I just quick battle all the time and do only the mission ones. They are still shit tho,the brain dead AI,the slow combat and the lack of save option is killing it for me. A battle takes around an hour of you trying to position your brain dead ships in a way that they won't die while watching them do a few damage here and there. I have the feeling that the shield recharge too fast. Also it seems to me that ships don't use both forward and side guns, you have to tell them with a button to either shoot one or another way. Could be mistaken tho,all the ships look the same to me. Another thing that pisses me off is that i haven't found a way to put ships in another fleet or in reserve.

You are playing the game wrong though.

You're supposed to ram the enemy ships. Quickly. Often.

Ships on autopilot will either turn to face the ship they are targeting or present their broadside to it. But as long as an enemy is in the field of fire of the other guns, it will shoot.

All ships to sorta look the same though. It was slightly better in the first one because there were less options for each size class, so you could learn to tell the two options you got apart through some large feature such as if it has a dorsal gun or power ram. But good luck telling the 8 different kinds of tyranid light cruisers apart.

How are Necron and Tyranid campaigns?
I'm playing nids. It's fairly well made. You have almost no sustainable income sources, but every planet you conquer and hold for 3 turns gives you a big payload of money. You can also deploy 'stealers on any planet you have vision of which eventually enables you to ignore travel routes to get there, and after a very large amount of turns just instantly capture it with a rogue spacehulk. Problem is all the ships look the same.

Protip for anyone playing campaign in this. You can change default ship behaviours by clicking them while having the fleet selected, and then clicking the order buttons. This way it doesn't reset every map.

:hmmm:

Fuck that shit, the game just let you have like 6-7 ships on the map even if you get there with 10-15. You just fight with them until they get damaged and send them home, the rest are used as reserves, when you retreat one another one pops in. It is a massive decline.

Jaedar yeah i know about ramming, but it feels cheap and tedious. About the autopilot, well there is a frontal fire and sideway fire option that you have to choose. In mid battle you can't check what kind of weapons the ship have, thus making it a guessing game.

Playing necrons and i have a shitload of money after conquering the first sector, can pretty much pump one new fleet per turn. I spend it on upgrading every planet though to get even moar income.

The AI is pretty dumb, the only decent one seems to be space marines since they rush forward and hulk my ships, almost like in MP. Had to replay a story mission vs SM 3 times. Would have been even stronger if it didn't board the ships that already don't have any crew left.

Overally, i'd say the campaign is not too bad so far, about on the same level as Total War Warhammer(1). There are story missions and side quests and even though AI is dumb, it constantly attacks on all fronts with huge fleets (at least on max difficulty), and its pretty hard to win against 2 or 3 times larger fleet even when its controlled by an AI.

You can check the weapons by clicking that upwards facing arrow on the left panel with the ship stats.

As for battles taking too long, well you can speed up the game. They don't take all that long for necrons (i'm currently (ab)using split lightning stance since AI likes to blob its ships).

If you're playing imperials, nova cannon spam should make short work of the AI fleets. Or get max torpedoes and macro cannons and rush them.

I am playing the empire, don't care about the filthy xenos!

In my games the AI goes for one or two at a time, they send everything ahead and the faster ones arrive first. Also the ship limitation does affect that, they send one after another after another, because the die. And yeah, you could speed up,but that makes the tactical part a hell because of how stupid the AI is. It can't even plot a course around an asteroid or a wreckage,it just plop it self in cercleing manoeuvrer around the enemy ship and it doesn't care what it hits.

Oh fuck, the invasions are major annoyance, nobody likes a game with an enemy that couldn't be done something about. Big fleets just decide to attack you and come form nothing :roll::roll:,the worst are the zerg ones. Also the auto battle is shit, three times the numbers everyone dies.

This game have some fun shit, but devs are retards, pox on them!

I am enjoying this campaign far more than the first game. At least in the beginning, you choose between more ships, more resources per turn, and other buffs. Beyond that, investing in certain planets and settlement upgrades pays off, such as the forge worlds and the gellar field (prevents assaults in the sector).

For the Imperium campaign, the option to mix Navy, Space Marine, and Adeptus Mechanicus ships is so nice. Space Marine boardings, Imperial Navy macro canons/torpedos, and ramming maneuvers for days. Alternatively, if you wanted to play mainly Space Marine or Adeptus Mechanics, you have that option to an extent. Compared to the first game, I see the far more potential for replayability.

Also, similar to what fantadomat said, DO NOT trust auto battle. I had 2-3 times the army points, and I lost ships and/or they were severely damaged. It is just not worth the risk.

:despair:
Fuck this game is cheap. On top of the retarded environment some of the battles are just endless spam until you kill certain ship that is hidden behind troop killing environment. After i wasted an hour to wipe his ass and his shitty fleet i got to the next mission where midway they just spawned 20 lc that instantly whipped 80% of my troops. I am really pissed at those fat faggot incels that made this shit! Really want to beat the teeth out of their fat mouths with a nice communistic hammer and then fill their filthy throats with their shitty overpriced plastic garbage fleets!!! Table top is always shit when done 1:1 on PC!!!

Also who the fuck are those fallen angels and why should i hate them? In the mission i get the option to join them or fight them, have no idea why should i choose either one of them. Any lore faggots here? This is the only choice i have seen in the whole game and it confused me.

Another thing I failed to realize in the beginning is that every commander has unique buffs. Admiral Spire grants 50% torpedo speed and ramming damage to every applicable Imperial Navy Vessel in his fleet. Another example is the beginning Space Marine commander that brings 100% success-rate lightning assaults. Additionally, the new commanders cycle through every few turns, and so you can watch for commanders with good buffs/traits.

I am trying to impose limitations on myself by bringing only 2 fleets at a time and not relying on Nova Canon spam (although I have a back up fleet with it). I try to use the Space Marine flagship (100% success at lightning strike) to cripple vessels (destroy its engines), and then line up Admiral Spire's ships to shoot a volley of torpedos, ram the vessel, quickly turn to get a volley of macro canons, and rinse/repeat with another Battleship. Bumper cars in space.

Nova canon seems even stronger this time around. Even though it is limited to 3 shots per ship, it does not appear to have any random targeting anymore. Three ships with Nova Canons can fuck eldar/dark eldar ships, especially if the AI is sitting idle trying to cap strategic points. Also, at least for the AI, the enemy ships are worse at moving out of Plasma Bombs.

I hope the devs add a Dark Eldar campaign, but it will probably be Eldar and Tau.

I got plenty of good, can do most mission with my starting fleet 3 battleships and 3 LC. I got fucked because there was 20 LC that literally spawned on to me and wiped all of my crew.

Instead of being edgy fag, tell me what the fuck are those fallen angels and why should i kill them!
It pains me to say this, but have you tried fielding multiple ships with Nova Canon and stasis bomb?

Kinda strange to me how easy it is to curb stomp the Necrons when in the TT version they're all sorts of scary
game's okay to good. There's some quality of life stuff that's pretty clearly missing like how many points a ship is worth when you're setting up new fleets or the ability to transfer ships between fleets.
Escorts do feel a bit more useful now than they did in the first game

if the gods are kind, the devs will release an ork campaign

The protector of the seventh path mission is the most retarded shit i have seen. I destroyed like 50 cruisers and the shitty "cannon" constantly endup targeting my battleships and there is no fucking way they could get out of the shot in time.

I really, really, really want to beat the shit out of those fucking retarded devs!

I played the first, found the gameplay and UI dramatically unfun, did they fix it?
