And no BG3... Seriously, get on the 'create your own IP' bandwagon, hire a (couple) super creative mind(s), if they don't already have them, and create an interesting and different world... Maybe do an inXile and lease the PoE engine then modify as required (and come up with a better combat system, shouldn't be too hard...).

They were incapable of doing ANYTHING with the Infinity engine in over a YEAR other than replacing the sound playing algorithm and introducing the scaling algorithm, which ended up working after another half a year of bug fixing. How do you figure they'd be able to actually MAKE a game? Lol.

Hm, what else did they achieve? Let's see... smudgy blurred UI. And.... Oh, that's it.

No, I'm forgetting something. They also made it impossible to use custom font mods (cause decided to change the font files format), and the fonts that they provide are utterly disgusting, don't resemble BG's original fonts at all.

AND they made their janitors voice act for the "characters" from the Black Pits II. The janitors also got paid a $5 bonus if they (inadequately) imitated some european accent - german, scandinavian, french, didn't matter, anything went.

And that's the extent of their capabilities.

That's the thing. If they put this mod in, say, Planescape Torment(Which they most likely will) then I'd understand. I'd still complain about it, and I wouldn't buy it, but it wouldn't be completely missing the point of the game.

As long it is optional, it's not going to hamper anyone's ability to brag about how their half-blind, one-legged, butterknife-wielding dwarf has slain an onscreen representation of an imaginary monster in a fantasy simulator...

It is a huge deal for the mindset it fosters, and it IS in fact the definition decline. The fact it is optional is completely besides the point.

The fact that it's optional negates any decline, and only fosters another kind of play for the people who want it. You really think most people are going to actually choose to be invincible the entire game, just to play it? They may play popamole, but they don't like *actually* being invincible.

Every single retarded gamemode is optional nowadays, but despite being optional, influence on the way the games are designed and balanced.
Anyway, I am not a Trent Oster and Co. hater, is just that every single new feature they announce on their enhanced versions just do not ring any bell, are just imbecile add ons, they do not enhance at all the game. Just empty and superficial.

Tomorrow they're designing games with invulnerable NPCs, and spend 5 minutes to implement an option where you can actually die, but don't work on it too much, leaving it as a "bonus" for those stupid nerd guys. No, taking the logic that far is retarded. Catering to casuals and Bubbles is not inherently decline, but forcing it on a genre frequently played by Lyric Suite definitely is. But they're not forcing it, so no decline.

Yep, that's what they initially said, but now it's in beta testing, and they'll release it when it's ready (prob next year). This new vid wasn't a good idea to keep people interested/pull more people in, if that's what they were going for.
